It took me a while to try out Jollibees because when I think of Filipino food, I don’t really think fried chicken or fast food of any kind. But when I saw that they were opening at Ka Makana, I had to try them out.
We got the Aloha Yum burger (burger with pineapple) meal with pineapple juice, 3 pc fried chicken, a kids hamburger meal, mango peach pie, and palabok noodles. What is palabok noodles? According to their website: Premium bihon noodles served with mouth-watering palabok sauce and toppings of pork chicharon bits, tinapa flakes, sauteed pork, shrimps, and slices of egg.
Everything was awesome! The burger was juicy, flavorful, and a decent size. The pineapple juice was a refreshing change from soda. Actually, the fries weren’t my favorite (I still prefer the golden arches when it comes to fries) but they were still pretty good. My son and husband liked the fries.
The fried chicken was perfect. It comes with gravy!! Whaaat?!?! The chicken tasted like how KFC USED TO taste like. Like it was fried in clean FRESH oil. And the gravy taste just like KFC.
The mango peach pie was delicious. It was on the more sweet side, but it was very yum. Would have been perfect with some vanilla ice cream!
Now, these noodles… I didn’t know what to expect. I knew that Filipino spaghetti is sweet, so I didn’t want that. I knew that I love me some pancit, but palabok is not pancit. So I just decided to try it…. And I loved it. I don’t know what that sauce is… it’s kind of like a nut sauce with pork or something but it’s good. I like all the add-ins like the shrimp and egg.
The staff here was SUPER friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Excellent customer service.
TLDR; Delicious chicken, a decent burger, and just a general refreshing change of pace from your normal fast...
Read moreIf you want to have an experience similar to the fine dining of a public elementary school lunch line..... By all means this will meet those expectations. The food is heavy in the guts, sweet and bland.... And this is not a jab on 7-Eleven, because in Hawaii honestly 7-Eleven kind of slaps Jollibee is a big step down from most offerings they have in their fresh food section and double to triple the price.
The one thing that Jollibee does though is make things sweet, so the only thing I would give them four stars on would be their pies. Other than that there's no reason to ever stop in the store. The first time I came here not impressed, decided to give it one more shot and maybe it was a fluke but the food both times was not prepared or ready and wait is 10 minutes or more.
The spicy chicken is not spicy, and they never have hot sauce in stock. Probably why the food here tastes like there's no seasoning.
The food is not good or bad. It's just extremely mediocre. If you want fried chicken, go to a Korean spot.
I'm convinced the only people that leave good reviews here are either Filipino or married one, have no taste buds, were locked in a basement for 20 years, or they were held at gunpoint against their will until a favorable...
Read moreMy recent experience at Jollibee in Kapolei left much to be desired. Upon ordering a regular chicken sandwich in the drive-thru, I was asked to park and wait without any indication of the estimated time or assurance of prompt service. This lack of clarity was frustrating as no name or specific details were taken for my order.
I patiently waited in my car, idling for what felt like an eternity—approximately 20 minutes—without any update or acknowledgment from the staff. The absence of communication and the extended waiting time in the parking lot was utterly disappointing.
While the quality of their food is acceptable, the abysmal service overshadowed any positive aspect of my visit. The disregard for customer time and the failure to provide basic service expectations left a sour taste in my mouth.
Regrettably, I cannot recommend the Jollibee Kapolei location due to its poor service, despite the decent food quality. A transparent and efficient service approach is essential to any dining experience, and sadly, this was sorely lacking...
