Overpriced. The restaurant is just inside the entrance to the grocery store. It has walls around it making it separate from the grocery store except you have to walk thru half the store to use the restroom. It seems like they are trying to make it upscale but it is falling short. The portions are small and way over priced. $20 for the Gnocci dish. It was ok. The Gnocci was pretty good, not a potato consistency and good flavor. The prawns were alright, the breading fell off easily. Not enough food for $20. The Ube pie was really gold with a coconut flavored cream topping. The donuts were super sweet and yummy. I ordered a drink, second something I cannot remember the long name, it was a regular height skinny glass. Looked fancy. I didn’t taste any alcohol, tasted a lot of ginger, $13...overpriced for such a small drink. It would be cheaper to get what you want out of the grocery store and picnic outside on the beach. I would not go back. If they want to stand apart from the grocery store I highly recommend a separate bathroom so you don’t have to dodge the crowd in the store. They take reservations and...
Read moreSo this isn't going to replace your regular grocery store, but I'm making it a regular stop. They have a great butchers counter and fishmonger. Huge selection of high quality meat and fish. Probably a dozen different kinds of made in the store sausages. The poke counter has a lot of choices of fresh ahi poke instead of the previously frozen kind the regular Foddland has. Produce section had a lot of good looking fruit and veggies, but a kind of smaller selection. The selection of liquor and wines rivals DonQi downtown.
Where it really falls short is the grocery section, lots of things there are only a few selections. For example they have maybe 10 or 12 cereals, so you aren't getting your coco pops there. No deli counter either. Limited selection of toiletries.
Overall I was very happy with the store, and will definitely go back, but you have to accept that you might not get everything...
Read moreI have been going to the Kapolei Ka Makana Ali'i Foodland since it opened. It is one of my favorite Foodlands on Oahu. I spend $150 per week on their Poke. For the last two months, it has been going downhill. Several untrained individuals must be making the Poke before putting it out for distribution. Not all customers taste their Poke before taking it home. I recommend they do. Lately, it has needed more flavor. If I am buying Spicy Ahi, then it should be spicy. I talked to several employees, including the servers, the seafood department, and the supervisors. Where is the Quality control? I did the survey. It did not help. I did receive a reply, but nothing improved. Four weeks later, nothing changed. I am hopeful that this review will help improve quality control. I would be happy to delete this review if the store management would take measures to improve the Poke and deliver what...
