Terrible service, no integrity, dishonest. Silly young girl took our order, it was a special night for my husband and I. We decided to spend some money on dinner for our special night. We ordered double fried rice. They decided that we should pay for double fried rice and not receive double fried rice. I call when my hub gets home with the food. The manager lied and told me to come pick up the missing fried rice. When my husband arrived for the missing rice that we'd already paid for, manager lies again and pretends that we ordered and agreed to pay for the missing fried rice. Manager told my husband that he had to pay but they would give him coupons for free food next time we come in. Why would you offer free food at any point? Why are you treating us like we're looking for free food? Why did you ask my husband to take more time out of his night to come fix your mistake, just to play games when he arrived?
The worst, most concerning, and disrespectful part is that you used Asian stereotypes to attempt to hustle myself and my husband. Manager must have thought that I was a tourist and would fall for the "we don't speak good English" game. The staff and manager all pretended that they didn't speak English very well, insulting my intelligence and time. Rather than admit to a mistake and correct it, you used it as an opportunity to not only steal my money, but then attempted to cheat additional money from my family. Then you pretended that you didn't understand what was going on, yet you're taking orders and counting money.
We're extremely disappointed in the behavior that staff and management displayed this evening. We spent a lot of money and was treated badly for it. Then you pretended that you didn't make a mistake and tried to double down by making us pay again. The cook and manager thought they would get away with this because this was take out, and they will cut and cheat from your food because it is already paid for and you may not look at it until you get home. You played on the trust of my family and you really let us down.
I can not get over the fact that they pretended that they didn't understand English or how to order food when we challenged the order. You lied, cheated and stole from us and I'm not letting it go. I'm putting aside time and energy to handle this until I'm satisfied. Shame on you sakura. This is not how you...
Read moreTo start with the location, parking is pretty available on that side of mall's parking lot, the decor is lovely, and the atmosphere is clean and bright.
The service was a major low point. First off, even though it was a slow Sunday lunchtime, our party of five was squeezed onto a single table, with a chair added at one end. Our server seemed unwilling to move beyond that end of the table, insisting on being handed the menus from the far side of the table (despite having the other menus gathered up for him), and bringing all the food to that end of the table to be offloaded for us to distribute ourselves - again, even though it was crowded at that end, since they insisted someone sit there. The sushi dishes ordered by two people at opposite corners of the table were both brought on a single platter with no serving plates, which involved a lot of reaching across the table and fallen food. Dishes that were removed by the bus staff were grabbed across the table past people who were trying to eat. The only positive was that our drinks were refilled fairly promptly.
The food was well below par. The hibachi steaks were OK, though I feel they should have been better given that it's one of their two focuses. Their other focus, the sushi, was a huge disappointment - while you might understand hearing "we should have gone to Genki," you should never hear "I've gotten better sushi in New Mexico" at a Hawaii sushi restaurant. It was so bad half of it went uneaten by that notoriously sushi-hungry pair. The hibachi chicken was under-sauced and boring, the calamari bland even with the dipping sauce, and even the miso soup was nearly tasteless. Don't expect to get much for the $3 upgrade to fried rice, either, aside from the barest hint of seasoning and a few tatters of egg. On the positive, the shumai, while small, were good; the noodles with the hibachi plates were fairly good; and the salad dressing - while not to the tastes of most at our table - was at least not boring.
Two final notes: first, they don't offer the lunch menu on Sunday. Second, there was a mandatory gratuity on a party of five, which is well under the normal point for mandatory gratuities, and unwarranted considering they didn't even give us any extra space.
Overall, not even remotely worth the $40 a head our...
Read moreDisappointing Experience – Would Not Recommend We arrived well before the dinner rush (before 6 PM) to a restaurant that was far from full, yet the service was slow from the start. It took quite a while for our server to greet our party of five, and communication was difficult — we had to repeat our order several times, and it still came out incorrectly. One member of our party received their meal much earlier than the rest of us — nearly 50 minutes before the rest of the food arrived — which made for a frustrating and disjointed dining experience. I repeatedly asked if a simple cucumber roll for our toddler could come out first, but instead, specialty rolls were prioritized. We originally came for teppanyaki but were disappointed to learn this location doesn’t offer it. Unfortunately, the sushi didn’t make up for it. It didn’t taste fresh, and the rice texture was off. The rest of our group didn’t enjoy their bento boxes or appetizers either. Overall, it was a letdown from both a service and food quality standpoint. If you're coming for sushi or a special dining experience, I’d recommend...
