Yeah, it's a dive bar, but it's a hell of a great place to grab a drink. We went in on a Wednesday night, so there weren't many people there, but the folks that were there made this bar a highlight of our trip. A guy named Nate was tending bar, testing out new drinks, and just generally being a friendly bar tender. A couple other people were there, and they were the first friendly locals we got to talk to while we were on vacation. We shared some drinks, played some drinking games, and just generally had a good time. So, if you're visiting Hilo, and you don't know what to do with your evening, give this place a shot. If the people sitting at the bar ask you to drink a Red Rooster with them, do it, and if the strange guy talking to himself in the corner asks if you want to play a drinking game, take him up on it. Read moreIt was really busy tonight for Halloween, but the bartender on duty, Kaya, was totally on the ball, really rocking it with getting everyone their drinks, taking order after order. The drinks we had were all very good as well. The Halloween decorations were also quite nice and the overall vibe of the place was very fun and energetic. Also if the bartender had control of the jukebox when ppl came to sing on the week ends that would be cool as well. We waited over an HR to sing waiting for an old timer to finish his songs he dumped his whole savings into the jutebox so ppl wouldn't sing, since he knows the bartender had a rule that nobody sings till jutebox is done.
