Avoid this place if you have taste buds lol. I ordered a lil bit of everything and nothing that ordered was good.
My son got 2 beef tacos with corn tortillas. The beef was horrible, plus corn was kinda strange to have in taco meat. The topping or sauce (whatever it was) didn't compliment any part of the taco. The corn tortillas were raw and wet. The whole thing disintegrated when we tried to pick it up to take a bite.
This fish taco was also bad. It was like a fish stick with a bad tortilla wrapped around it.
Then I got 2 burritos to share with my GF. The Baja with chicken seemed like it would be good. There was way too much quinoa/ brown rice in the burrito. It seemed to be about 3/4's of the burrito's filling. I'm afraid to see what a burrito without meat is like. The rice was very undercooked and bland. It seemed like they tried to put as little chicken as possible inside. The chicken itself tasted ok, but that rice blend over powered the whole thing to the point of beimg like a rice burrito with no sauce, cheese or any other toppings.
The 2nd burrito was the lip smacker with carnitas. The carnitas was ok, but again there was very little of it in the burrito. This one had a pinch of spice to it, but I couldn't detect much flavor. All I could taste was rice with a hint of old pico de gallo and carnitas scattered here and there. I don't think the person rolling the burritos knew what they were doing. Everything wasn't seperated and spread evenly in the tortilla. So you'd get whole bites of only one ingredient.
My GF ate about a quarter of the lip smacker and didn't want to finish it. She said it was barely edible. Then after one bite of the Baja, she said she wouldn't eat that one either. They were that bad. My son only ate one taco before saying he didn't like it and didn't want to eat the other taco. I ate about half of the lip smacker and attempted to eat the Baja too. After removing almost all of their rice blend it was decent, but I still didn't like it much.
To sum it up, the service was fine, the price was kind of high for what you get and the food was very poorly executed. Everything had no flavor or simply tasted off and not right. You might be better off making your own Mexican food. Honestly. Taco Bell would be a better choice. I will never return to this place. That's sad because I live within walking distance and I love...
Read moreI think this is my first one star review I’ve ever given. Ordered and paid online. Showed up 20 minutes later, when they said it would be ready per the email confirmation. It was really slow when I arrived - hardly anyone around (so they definitely weren’t too busy to have my order ready.)
When I identified myself to pick up my order, they had that deer-in-the-headlights look. Clearly hadn’t even started on it.
“No worries”, I thought - I had heard the food was good so I was happy to wait. Went and got some drinks at Foodland and came back fifteen minutes later. Order still not ready. “No worries” again, since I saw some friends at a table waiting for their food so I joined them.
Ten minutes later they finally have my order ready. All of the food was cold except for one of the keiki burritos. I was wondering how they could manage to let it get cold while I waited at the ready, but of 4 burritos and 3 tacos, none of the cheese was melted except for one of the burritos.
Quality and flavor, besides being cold and with slow service, was average at best. Had it come hot and quickly, I still wouldn’t have been impressed. It was the final nail in the coffin, since up to this point I was trying so hard to be charitable and patient.
I really wanted to like this place, having heard praise from someone I trust, but it was really bad. 1/10. I would never spend money here again. I’d rather my family and I go hungry...

We went here late on a Sunday since everything else was packed. It took a while because there were only two guys working and one of them ended up walking out mid-shift. The poor chef was taking orders and apologizing left and right for the wait. He was so overwhelmed but you could tell he cared about the customers and the quality of the food. We had to wait because nothing else was open at that point, but he took care of us in the end. We got MASSIVE burritos stuffed with tender, flavorful chicken and beef along with other fresh, tasty ingredients. The quinoa/rice filling was different in a good way—I really enjoyed the flavors and textures added by the mix of grains. My burrito was seasoned well and not too spicy, which was perfect for me! My husband and I couldn't finish our food so we ended up with leftovers for lunch the next day.
Thank you to the chef who worked so hard to get us food in a desperate situation. We had hiked 11 miles that day and hadn't eaten. We drove to three other places and couldn't get seated due to the holiday weekend rush. Without Red Hot Mama's, we would've been SOL. Sending all the best wishes to this worker and hoping he gets some help soon. Mahalo for the delicious food and...
