The service here is very friendly. Loved the bar maids! The music was great and the beer prices are awesome. The bar is your typical bar, so you are better off drinking here, rather than eating. There may be a lot of reviews that say their burgers are the best, but I didn't think so! They weren't bad, but take it from someone who cooks, they were just eh! Don't expect fries with anything, because there aren't any- but you can get a bag of chips! Grant it, the burger is big and was fresh, but lacked flavor of any kind. You can watch them cook it, as its done by the bartenders, behind the bar in a small tabletop oven that has definitely seen better days. The oven looks as though it can cook about 4 burgers at once, but that's it. We waited a long time for just 2 of them and we were the first to place an order and the bar only had a handful of people, since we got there at 5:45pm, during midweek. So i can't imagine going into this bar on a Saturday night and asking for food, especially if other orders are before yours. I would also imagine it would take away from drink service, since the bartenders are also cooking!!! The burger came on a regular hamburger bun that quickly fell apart as I was eating. This burger would be best served on a toasted kaiser roll, so it can absorb juices without falling apart. It may boost the cost about 35 cents, but I dont think anyone would cry over that. I had mine with sauteed onions and mushrooms. The mushrooms are canned (the can was opened in front of me), and thus the mushrooms were not a yummy experience. The onions, lettuce and tomatoes are fresh, so that's your best bet! I was glad I ordered it with onions, so it gave the bland burger some flavor. Their homemade pickles were pretty good. They also serve a few types of sandwiches (hot and cold) and I believe frozen pizza that's also cooked behind the bar. Overall, the place is good, but a better place to hang out and have a beer, than it is to eat! I think if this place added a cook, and a small kitchen in the back, with just a fridge, sink, grill, broiler and a double deep fryer, they could do so much better by serving pub type finger foods such as sliders (as opposed full burgers), hot wings, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, french fries, chili fries and dogs, Loaded nachos ...to name a few! I would bet it would boost sales that would pay off new equipment fast and compensate a pub cook (in...
Read moreUnfortunately I don’t like writing bad reviews for small town businesses, especially one that’s a staple for Hawley. But this is pretty bad to warrant a negative review. Tried to meet friends for drinks there, but The system they use does not scan out of state licenses or federal Identification. So although my husband both had his Real ID FL license and his military spouse ID, he was totally denied service, and was told he can’t even be in the bar. Unfortunately they lost customers tonight because of it. While I understand PA licenses have to be scanned, it is a huge flaw that they don’t scan any other ID’s, especially those that you can even fly through airports and enter federal property with. For a town that relies heavily on tourism in the summertime, I feel that it’s a massive flaw to not accept out of...
Read moreAfter a recommendation from the visitor center we sought out this bar & grill, mostly to check out their much praised hamburgers. Cute bar, pleasant people. At the time I didn't realize but my husband pointed out later to me the "prices" didn't add up ( and I had left a tip as usual) and he was right,WAY over charged AND they took ONLY cash. The food itself was so-so. Disappointed to...
