I have bought thousands of dollars worth of pizza from the downtown Hayward Round Table location. Have never had a problem until this order, which will be my last.
I ordered two pizzas, a large and a personal. Sent my husband to pick them up, and when he returned, we dug in like we usually do. Unfortunately, this time we got an extra topping of long, stringy hair. In BOTH pizzas.
We immediately called the restaurant back and were greeted with suspicion that we somehow put the hair there ourselves. We had just returned from being on the other side of the world; the absolute last thing we were thinking about was how to sabotage Round Table Pizza.
After some back and forth, they agreed to send replacements. We asked for delivery since we were so tired, and that was an issue too. They never offered to give us our money back. After we got the pizzas, we discovered one of them was incorrect. I called and asked if I could get a refund. I was told no, since I had already gotten replacement pizzas, that this was not an option.
I escalated to the supervisor, with no luck. I then escalated to the manager, who initially lied and said he wasn't the manager, before finally relenting after I threatened to let people know about their shady practices and shoddy food handling. Today, I was told again that no, they would be keeping the $50 I paid because they had delivered replacements and that I was offered the choice of a replacement or a refund. I spent 15 minutes on the phone arguing and being interrupted so that I could be told why they felt that way.
I really hope it was worth it, because I won't give them another penny in this lifetime, and you shouldn't either. In fact, this might swear me off Round...
Read moreHaving not had Round Table in a few years, I happened upon a craving for those mini pepperonis they used and made it a mission to order some pizza. So I tried their brownie dessert, large pan pepperoni, and got a couple of smaller classic crust pizzas to enoy a Hawaiian and pesto chicken. Truly, the pizzas were all really great! I ordered roasted garlic on my pesto pizza and got chopped instead which was a bit of a bummer. As well, I believe the desserts are likely best to be ordered in a more sit down experience when they can be prepared for you hot and fresh, so I had to make do and recreate that experience at home while eating. The gentleman working here was friendly and welcoming when I came to pick up my order.
The dining side is from the back but it's nice to come in this way because you avoid the heavy and fast traffic on the Foothill side. Price to quality ratio can be a big change in your experience, as while the pizza is above your common chain varieties in quality, the price is a bit exorbitant for what you ultimately get. For example, without coupons and a couple toppings a large pizza could easily run $40, while I could go to a gourmet spot and get 4 or 5 slices from a wood burning stove for about the same price in parts of the East Bay. All in all though, big fan of my purchase here, would be happy to make a return and...
Read moreThis is my favorite pizza in the world. I treat myself to it when I can because the price point is high. The pizza has never been bad in quality. They just can't seem to pay attention long enough to my order to get it right. If I pay full price for a King Arthur Supreme every single topping needs to be on it. But because there are side convos going on behind the counter or with friends/co-workers, and the woman putting my pizza together forgets toppings, I don't get what I ordered but paid full price for. They didn't even try to fix it. It was just too bad for me on this one. GET IT TOGETHER. You're here because the customers are here, not the other way around. Make an effort to make me want to come back. I won't for a while because I wasted money today. There's another location on Redwood in Castro Valley that I'm happy to give my money to and the service is GREAT and my orders are...
