Duke's Spirited Cocktails — Restaurant in Healdsburg

Came here a week ago from Santa Rosa just to get out of lockdown just thought I’d walk around the square a bit and find someplace that was open for a quick bite and found dukes. Ordered a burger and was able to be seated indoors overlooking the park. My burger was delish plain and simple good charbroiled hamburger, nice sauce, juicy not greasy and good sized for the cost. Fries were great (I’m pretty picky because most fries are not that great anymore IMHO) It was my first meal in a restaurant in 4 months so I thoroughly savored the moment. So this week I invited a friend to meet me in Healdsburg to sit in the park and I raved about this burger so we met and both ordered the same burger and then drove to a park about 3 miles away and pd to get in and enjoy our meal. As we opened our boxes, exited and hungry for this burger I had extolled as one of the best I’d ever had, but quickly noticed how terrible it looked. No sauce, dried up and shriveled patty not nearly size of my last one, one piece of yellow iceberg, no onion, pickle tomato, bun was a stale, dry rock etc. because we were so hungry we just ate it but I left my bun because it was inedible and we ate the fries. We were both so disappointed and were certainly not going to leave our spots and go right back to dukes so we just visited and chatted and when we were done we both agreed that we should head back to dukes and trusted that they would make right on it. We got there and discreetly and kindly asked if they would make us another burger especially that we came all that way. The waiter said no because we had consumed it and said if we had come right back and showed them he might have done it. Although I can understand that I also feel that it was there chefs fault and an issue of quality control and consistency. We did not check our food when we got it because we trusted it would be great. I don’t feel this was good customer relations and felt as if we were seen as free loaders out to score a meal it was embarrassing because many people were standing around waiting for there food. I would have recommended dukes to friends but now I cannot. It’s a shame just because of not making this right they lost my business and many others that I would have recommended try there and in these hard times of lockdown they should appreciate the business. So I recommended you check food before driving off!! And to Dukes I would say things happen and not always perfect but most people will give second chances depending on the attitude and attempt to correct...

Stepped in and took 2 seats at the bar here this last Monday evening. As it was the night before July 4th, they were getting hit pretty hard. Bartender Alex offered a quick apology that it might take a little longer to get to us. No problem we said. Few minutes later he was answering questions about the drink menu. A Paloma and Mai Thai poured draft style and we were hooked. Just delicious. Partner Jazmine then showed up and she and Alex had the place well covered. I inquired about the Weller 12 yr, ordered a shot. Quick word with girlfriend, turned back to the bar and faced a generously poured shot, accompanied by the whole bottle, as well as another Hubba Bubba for my girl. Wow. Shot and cocktail consumed, asked to close out. Alex passed me the bill jacket. We’d consumed several outstanding cocktails, but the Weller shot and last Hubba Bubba were missing from the tab. I informed Alex, who replied, “ we were slammed and you were polite and patient. We appreciate that”. They say the best bartenders have strong instincts and are good at reading people. Saturday night at Duke’s is the place to be.

Spent the day in healdsburg eating and wine tasting. As the day turned into night my friends and I found ourself checking out dukes. It seemed to be the place! Everyone we met throughout the day said it’s the weekend spot.

Waking into a good crowd, a DJ spinning, and drinks flowing we knew we were bound for a good time. We got a section on a couch with a table which was perfect for us to sit and people watch but also stand around to mingle and dance.

The music was jamming, the delicious drinks were flowing, the vibes were vibing. We also had a good time enjoying the Photo Booth, there’s a small fee for the photos and totally worth capturing the fun night. The place is very spacious and lots of room to sit, stand, hang around the bar, or even dance.

I now know they serve food, so I’ll definitely be returning to try some dishes and have some more cocktails.
