Years of eating Goode Company BBQ never disappoints. If you get a dinner plate, you’ll get jalapeño bread and two sides. Brisket has always been my go-to meat, with sauce on top, and not on the side. It’s always been consistent so I know what it will taste like. My usual sides would be potato salad and jambalaya. On my last trip, I decided to change and get man and cheese. If you like it really rich and thick, get this as your side. Nothing against it, just isn’t my preference. I’ll stick with my potato salad and jambalaya. I’ve always liked the decor of this place, because it what people who aren’t from Texas, might think of what a barbecue place should look like. It looks like a clean and well-organized antique store. Due to COVID-19, procedures and dine-in has changed. Out of all restaurants in Houston I’ve been to since the pandemic, Goode Company exemplifies how it should be done. The benches next to the ordering line have been closed off. It’s an area where all the foot traffic is so it would be a good idea to close it off. No more self serve soda machines. An attendant will fill it up for you and you’ll receive a new cup. Tables are spread apart. It isn’t the bare minimum at what they are doing. They are going above and beyond. The food has always been great. The service is exceptional. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Granted I came in about an hour prior to close so I was expecting "not the most fresh" even though the meal was just fine. My critiques really just come down to taste- it was just good. Not amazing, not bad... just good. The ribs were the better of the two meats I got. The brisket just didn't have a good pop of flavor or that smokey taste even though it had a nice bark. The baked beans were pretty nice and I enjoyed the potatoe salad. My biggest complaint is the BBQ sauce- it's kinda trash... it just tastes like think, peppery tomatoe sauce. I'm not expecting a molasses or brown sugar taste, but this was heavy on the acidity of the tomatoes. BL- I will probably look for somewhere else, but wouldn't make a fuss if I ended up here again.

Working nearby, I've always wanted to come try this BBQ place. Immediately walking up to it: You get a feel for older country feel, which puts you in the BBQ mood. When you walk in, all the Southern Western style decor is right in your face, and I loved it. Most of the service is self-serve besides the food choices. I went with a simple 2 meat plattet: Brisket and Smoked Chicken with a side of Mac N Cheese and Potato Salad. I thought the Jalapeño bread could have been better if buttered and lightly warm! I enjoyed most of my food here. My only con was that I had to go back up and ask for Fattier Brisket after I requested it the first time around. I definitely recommend anyone nearby come pay a visit. They are worth the visit!!

(1 My visit I ordered two baked potatoes and a sandwich. He sandwich was small as hell not worth the 8 to 9 bucks the potatoes wasn't bad but small but the one my son got was scorched but I spent $32 bucks to be honest they over charge because of the atmosphere the food was just ok it was good but ok nothing different then then any other Bbq place but for what I got was good but from at least any other places I would have saved about 6 to 7 bucks for atmosphere that I didn't get to enjoy cause I ordered to go. But over all the food was very hood service was good. Oh! no where to sit as your waiting for your togo order.

(2 Well I went back to this restaurant and I took some out of town family first we was the only people in line but the older gentlemen that was cutting the meat was rushing us and rude. Also I'm glad last time I only got Potatoes this time my cousin got the chicken and potato salad and macaroni my bestfriend had the sausage plate with greens and macaroni I had the ribs and sausage plate with macaroni and green beans. Now before I start like last time I mentioned that they still didn't had no waiting area for pick up orders. Now I ate in this time with my family and I still didn't see what makes this barbecue so great don't get me wrong the ribs could have been just a little more tinder and the green beans had why to much pepper in them than needed the food was good not great then I guess its was close to closing and I felt rushed while I was eating. The place was very clean even the restroom and I know we are in Texas but I felt like I was in a saddle storage facility there are just to many saddlebags all over the place to include the setup in the glass case. Also the sweet tea needs to say on it not so sweet tea so i tasted the unsweetened tea and trust me it was unsweet. Now the only thing that is location on I-10 had that I liked most was the shirt's for sale in the case as you leave I would love to have gotten one but there are no sizes or pricing so who to say that you got up charged or not now I kinda like this place and I'm not on here to tell you not to go here cause everyone's experience is going to be different so just go your self and if you feel like I do and that's what this place is for to voice your opinions from any place. To be honest it's not like I'm going to stop going here I like their Baked potatoes but they could be a lil bigger for the price. Now I recieved a response from management asking for me to give them another try but sit down well I did what they ask and like I said I'm not impressed and I feel your paying to eat food at the saddle storage place. And I asked everyone how was their meal and the response I got was that they felt it was just ok and it was a little spicy with pepper. Like I said this was my experience and yours may be different so makeup your own mind and...

The one star is for the presentation. It was a pretty plate. That’s it. Now, let’s be real about the food. First, the brisket was drier than the Sahara desert. The cheddar Mac & cheese is extremely heavy on the cheddar taste but the consistency was that of runny scrambled eggs. The BBQ sauce was EXTREMELY runny so much so that you dip a piece of chicken into it and it’s like it didn’t get any sauce whatsoever. The food TASTES like it sat on a grill but didn’t sit long enough to capture the true effervescence of being TRADITIONAL BBQ… The jalapeño cheese bread looked like something you could replicate at home with simple Texas toast and jalapeños as it had one corner of a jalapeño and I counted two small pieces of cheese. Now about that chocolate pie; the pie crust and topping were the saving grace for making that piece of pie edible. It tasted like barely milk chocolate and it tasted like they were trying to even skimp on that! What people have said about the portions is SPOT ON. They are about the size of a child’s closed fist. The pricing is GROSSLY overrated for what you actually receive. The people that are claiming this is five star food… LIED!!! This place is 1 star at best but with bigger portions can become 2 maybe 3 stars…

Update: They asked me to fill out a form so they can follow up… I’ve yet to hear anything from them STILL WAITING… Don’t buy the feigned concerns over the quality and quantity of the food. It’s just for PR. You won’t hear from them even after they ask you to fill...

SOOOOOO... WE STOPPED IN HERE ON A WHIM (& BECAUSE I AM JUST SO TIRED OF CHEAP (NOW EXPENSIVE - [THANKS OBIDEN !!] OL' MCDONALDS ! )

LETS TALK FOOD !!

I PURCHASED THE 3 MEAT - (BRISKET, SMOKED CHICKEN & TURKEY) PLATE WITH 2 SIDES - GREEN BEANS & DIRTY (JAMBALAYA) RICE ... IT WAS AMAZING !!!!!!!

THE BRISKET WAS NEAR PERFECT WITH A GREAT SAVORY FLAVOR - THE CHICKEN ( MY FAVORITE) WAS JUST PERFECTLY SMOKED WITH AN INCREDIBLY RICH & SALTY SMOKEY SKIN, THE TURKEY WAS SMOKED AS WELL (NOT AS GOOD AS THE CHICKEN) BUT STILL GREAT ! SINCE IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY - - THEY GAVE ME A LITTLE TASTE OF SAUSAGE AND 1 RIB TO TRY AS WELL !! SAUSAGE WAS OK GOOD FLAVOR BUT NOTHING EXTRAORDINARY... THE RIB WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING FLAVOR FALL OFF THE BONE TENDER ! RICE & GREEN BEANS ALSO SO INCREDIBLY FLAVORFUL AND SAVORY !!

THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS LITERALLY WONDERFUL MY WIFE AND I BOTH ATE ON THIS PLATE FOR 3 (YES, THREE) WHOLE MEALS !!! WE DON'T OVER EAT, SO TAKING THAT INTO ACCOUNT - THAT MAKES THE $25 - 3 MEAT PLATE - REALLY NOT SO BAD AT ALL HONESTLY !

I WILL DEFINATELY BE BACK TO TRY MORE AND WILL HAVE A MUCH BETTER ATTITUDE WHEN PURCHASING THIS INCREDIBLY TASTING SMOKEY CUISINE !!

RESTAURANT WAS NICE WITH PLENTY OF PARKING ON THE SIDE & IN THE BACK. PLEASE TRY THIS GOODE COMPANY BBQ - YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED !! THINKING HONESTLY - ANY BUSINESS THAT'S LASTED 50 YEARS IS DOING SOMETHING RIGHT ! THANK YOU GOOD COMPANY WE'LL BE BACK...
