It took me an hour and 36 minutes to get to this library because I take the bus and it was worth it! I explained my situation to the librarian; i had created a Libby account AND HCPL online account but I wanted a physical card. She explained that it's separate accounts and I could merge them but i wouldn't have access to the accounts for a few hours or leave as is. Ultimately, we decided to mete them and was surprised to know that I already HAD a HCPL card. I explained that igot one when I worked as a nanny in a specific neighborhood but when that employment ended, my employer demanded the card back. The librarian explained that it was mine to keep and it should not have been given back, in fact there was a book checked out on it and had not been returned! We matched the dates and it was definitely not a book I had checked out myself. She corrected this and removed that card, merged my libby and hcpl accounts and while i was browsing, confirmed it was done and ready to use! I am amazed!!!!
On top of that amazing help, they have cooking classes (you have to register) and computer literacy classes!!! And so much more. She gave me a pamphlet with different services and apps available to use (from video streaming to newspaper and magazine). The place is brightly lit, spacious, and well-stocked. I'm really happy I came here and will...

Read more30-year patron of this branch.
Spoke with this location’s Branch Manager today about an item. This individual was apparently short & curt in the interaction, while they sat on their chair, providing answers left/right at my basic questions.
While I appreciate the individual’s knowledge, I think there may be room for professionalism & communication improvements. 👀
For example, how to convey one’s high-level of knowledge (in any position) to a patron asking a basic question?
It was almost as if I were being argued with because I didn’t understand & was asking for clarification?
Another library staff member (under their supervision obviously, since orgs are supposed to be a team?) said they rectified my concern before Branch Manager.
However, when I approached Branch Manager for something else, they loudly said something along the lines of, “Not sure about whatever anyone has done on this”, as if they were complaining/airing dirty laundry in front of a patron.
Additionally, other, VERY seasoned library staff, whom I see & know since I visited this branch as a toddler (!!!), noticed the “Branch Manager’s” interaction.
I totally get anyone may have a bad day or moment. I’d like to request: please refrain from misdirecting issues or being rude to library patrons!
I don’t think anyone needs any of...
