Benny's Bistro — Restaurant in Helena

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. In the past Benny's has always been reliable in both good service and food, but it seems that is no longer the case. When my two friends and I arrived there were at least 12 open tables, but we were left to stand in the doorway for 10 minutes before someone even acknowledged us. After being sat at the absolute worst table in the restaurant, right near the bathrooms, we then waited another 15 minutes while all three waitresses stood around and tapped on their iPad. Our waitress was rude and slammed the water glasses and plates onto the tabled the whole night and lacked any kind of warmth or personality. My friend ordered the $23 burger which was undercooked and soggy. After seeing it with three bites taken out our waitress asked if we wanted it boxed up and not if there was any sort of issue. Overall Benny's has plummeted so far downhill I would never consider giving it a second chance. I hope it was just an off night, because the waitstaff and chefs should be embarrassed by the food and service...

My best friend and were in town for our daughters volleyballgames. From the time we walked in to the the time we left, everything was spectacular. When you walk in you have jazz musicians playing with a 50's vibe. You sit at the bar and watch the kitchen crew make the most mouth watering dishes. The mac n cheese was not dry,the flavor of the smoked pork completed the mac n cheese. The house salad with the balsamic dressing was fresh and absolutely delicious.The salad had a slice of bread with a herb butter spread on it. It really makes the salad. The honey glazed salmon with the potatoes and veggies were superb. The zucchini and squash were grilled to perfection. The stroggnoff was so flavorful. The beef in there was tender. My favorite though was the desssert! Cherry cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Sweet with a hint of tart. The crust was not soggy at all. Our waiter was very friendly. We went to Benny's for a special occasion and we were very disappointed. It took about 20 minutes for us to get our order taken and then another 45 minutes for our food to come. My daughter ordered a chai tea and it never came, I asked the waitress and she came back and said she actually made it but forgot to give it to us so she was warming it up. Not really what you want to hear that your drink has just been sitting out and now is just being warmed back up, but then it still didn't come. I went up to the counter and just cancelled the order, then as we were about to leave she brought it and it wasn't good. The food was nothing exciting, very strange tastes and flavors that didn't seem to compliment each other, also very small portions for the price.
