Very good food and plenty of it. The place is nothing fancy - it's just a rented spot in a small neighborhood strip mall - but don't let its humble appearance fool you.

Our party consisted of two adult couples and an 11 month-old and we all ordered something different. I, for instance, had their Triple Cheese, Bacon, Chipotle Ranch Burger which was not only huge but extremely good. The only complaint was that the server didn't ask how I'd like it cooked and it came out a tad too pink for my taste. All the ingredients were fresh. The bacon was thick and cooked just right. The pickles and sliced tomatoes were fresh and tasty. The cheeses were awesome, and the very large, very yummy bun was not something you'd find at the grocery store. The fries were more than acceptable, if perhaps a bit too sprinkled with sea salt. I also ordered their onion rings as an appetizer, but they didn't come out until we were at least halfway through our meal. Worth the wait, though, they were even better than the amazing rings one gets at the famous Tip Top restaurant on Fredericksburg Road. The waitress apologized for forgetting to submit that as part of our order.

The wife had the fish tacos. She loves fish tacos and orders them almost anywhere that has them on the menu - as long as the fish is not tilapia - and these were made with Mahi-mahi. She swears these were the absolute best fish tacos she's ever had. And she's an okra lover and, again, the verdict was "best ever."

The daughter had the chicken fried chicken which she loved and said she's coming back for another round - but this time coming with an empty stomach since she couldn't finish the whole meal in spite of her desire to down the whole plate! Son-in-law had one of the pasta dishes and he agreed that he was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

I will say that the wait staff were very nice and eager to please, but perhaps were not too experienced. My sweet tea glass sat empty without anyone checking to see if I needed a refill, and water glasses for the party were not checked on either.

Oh, and the 11 month-old ordered a Shiner Bock, but since the place is still going through the process of obtaining their beverage license, she'll just...

My neighbor and friend were in Helotes today and before we left Helotes to head back to san San Antonio, we decided to stop and get something to eat. We found this 6 Klicks Cafe and decided to give it a try. To note I really don’t like to leave negative reviews, but I hope the owner will take it as constructive criticism and possibly make some improvements. The establishment looked very clean, not busy, only a couple of tables were occupied. The server was gracious and attentive but not very responsive…. We both ordered Burgers, I chose it with a couple of add ons and fries, my friend, Burger with onion rings. My friend had asked if she could have extra onions added on her burger… after all the onions come on the burger, and onions are considered condiments… she was told that if she wanted extra onions she would have to be charged extra. Which she replied no thanks. The burgers were tasteful, but I have to say, the speed in which they came out, leads me to think that they were pre-cooked. The onion rings were very peppery, but not bad. Our server came and said that we should leave some room for dessert, they had a delicious homemade peach cobbler and as they we running out or it was a seasonal dessert, we should give it a try… I’m a sucker for desserts, so after we were done, since I didn’t finish my burger, I took half home, I decided to get a peach cobbler to go. What was presented to me was the smallest portion of peach cobbler that I see in a restaurant ever. I had to point out to our server how small it was, which she replied that if I wanted she could give me another piece, but because they were all sliced small, I would be basically getting the same thing… at which point, I was perplexed… my friend told me I should’ve just returned the dessert, it wasn’t worth $7.50… we left spending almost $50 for a meal that wasn’t worth that amount… I wanted to support a veteran owned establishment, I’m a spouse of a military veteran… yet this left me with a real bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended)… the photo is of the UNTOUCHED...

A great place to spend time with family and friends while also supporting veterans.

Very casual and bright with simple design and lots of seating area. There's plenty of space throughout the building so you never have to squeeze past anyone or feel cramped. There's also a lot of bright natural colors which fits in well with the feeling of kindness and fresh appeal that you'd get from a lot of cafes; I find that it easily can uplift my mood.

The food is pretty good as it uses a lot of fresh, quality ingredients. The plating is done nicely and offers a simple style with nice colors making the food tantalizing to the eye. In terms of taste, there's good flavor with many of the dishes without being overbearing or tiring. The meals, despite the more intentional plating technique, feels very home - made and comforting especially with taste and made for an enjoyable meal. If I had to recommend what dishes to get it'd be the gator bites and buffalo chicken cheese fries. The catfish plate was also pretty good and worth a try if you're big on seafood. They have a ton of options to choose from on their menu though and I'm sure everyone is bound to find something they'll love!

Very friendly to all who come by as well as attentive, open to feedback and very welcoming. They greeted us and were great with giving recommendations of food items to try that were their personal favorites. I enjoyed their kind energy and the farewell greetings inviting us to return soon. I also appreciate how they were kind enough to explain the history of the place and their mission of supporting fellow veterans in need as well as giving them a safe space to go. Definitely a very friendly environment.

If you'd like a refreshing cafe with great ingredients made fresh, enjoy food with a homemade flair and love to find ways to further support veterans and support a kind cause all in one package, 6 Klicks will...

Flavor: A- Service: B Tea: A Solo dining: A I read about this place in a list of best chicken fried steaks. I arrived about 50 minutes before closing which I knew was risky. They told me they were out of white gravy so I didn’t want to try the chicken fried steak without its full glory of the complimentary gravy. When I told my server this she went back to the kitchen and then came out to tell me they would “make it work.” I’m not sure what that meant but I was appreciative. What service! That high level of service was diminished by the fact that I never saw my server after my plate was delivered. I had to go up to the bar to request a refill on tea. So the service was a mixed bag but the food was great. The chicken fried steak was tender and the batter stuck to the meat. It was borderline too spicy for me but I’m kind of a wimp when it comes to spice. And this is a refreshing change from the bland chicken fried steaks that I often try. So I’d prefer a little more flavor and a little less heat but it was nonetheless good and I can see why it has made it on a list of favorites. The gravy and mashed potatoes were but good but the green beans were another highlight. Some real flavorful southern green beans. This place is a bit of a trek for me but I want to return to try some other things. I’d imagine that there are some gems.
