I ordered breakfast tacos from Mary's Helotes location on Friday 10/4 and Saturday 10/5. The tacos are good, although sometimes the potatoes aren't fully cooked. One thing they need to work on is their customer service. On Friday, I placed my order online before going to work. The order was not ready at the time that was specified on the website. While standing there waiting for my tacos, like many others, I noticed that the entire staff was only working on one very large order. My thought is they should have had at least a couple of employees working on the tacos of the people that were waiting for specific times as well. The next day I ordered online again. After getting home some of the tacos I received were incorrect. So I went back to the restaurant to pick up the correct tacos. (They were also labeled correctly as potato and bacon, but when we opened them they were potato/chorizo and egg.) when I walked up to the pick up counter and explained to the guy what happened. He then walked over to one of the employees at the taco making station and explained to him what happened. The employee then looked at me like I was lying. Which was infuriating. Believe me, I hate going back to any restaurants to get what I actually ordered. My family sat waiting for me to get home with fresh tacos while their’s got cold, so we could all eat together. That being said, I don't think I will be returning to Mary's Tacos anytime soon. Hopefully they will work on their customer experience as it is lacking in professionalism. When you treat people with respect, you’ll always have business, but there are many taco places in San Antonio. If we have to go further out of the way for a better experience and better food, we will do...

I had previously reviewed this place and made it known that the food and service was great. I even went as far as reserving the side room for a special occasion. Today all that went down the drain. I went a week ago to order my tamales , I specifically asked the young man twice if I could come at 1 but the young man insisted I go by 12 so that's what I did. When I got there i ordered a few tacos which were cold by the way and waited for my tamales. A young lady called me to the front to apologize that unfortunately my order wasn't placed on there board and they weren't prepared, she said she could give me some frozen ones or I could come back at 1. Wow!! No I didn't want frozen ones and I had to be with my grandparents by 1. I asked to speak to the manager which I saw one of the owners on the back (tall with dark hair) he had his manager come speak to me it was very disappointing. I felt as if I didn't matter. I asked for my money back and was given another apology. This isnt good service, sad part is I only ordered a dozen in a half for my elderly grandparents who live about 45 minutes away. So if because of this I nor any of my family will ever come back to this location. I know it may not matter to them but it needs to be said. You should treat your customers as a priority, had the owner came out and taken the TIME to speak to me and made things right they would still have myself and my family...

Come here frequently and the experience is always on and off: sometimes, even in the mornings, they are out of some toppings and they don’t let you know until it’s time to pick up an order (so you obviously don’t have a choice and have to get something instead, of course it’s something cheaper). They change $0.75 to add a pinch of cilantro and a pinch of white onion to a taco, it’s very expensive. Tables always dirty. Cashiers always unfriendly. Often on the weekends (even in the mornings) they are out of green salsa. Very often green salsa is over salty. Very often when it’s 30-40 minutes until they close, they stop making fresh beverages (tea, coffee) and they don’t let you know about it at the register, so you end up paying for a beverage and stay with a cup of water. Regarding tacos: inconsistency in tortillas quality - they are often come unevenly rolled and undercooked. Toppings quality is also on and off: when barbacoa is not too greasy, I often get chunks of inedible pieces. Papas often undercooked and I have a strong crunch in my taco. Carne is very chewable, almost impossible to eat. The room on the right side is very sunny, very disturbing to eat there since it gets extremely hot even early in the morning.

A few tables were available but had not been cleaned off. The staff was too busy watch the soccer game on TV. We stood around waiting to have one of the tables cleaned off. I ordered the beef fajita plate, rice and beans. The fajitas were super tender but bland in taste as was the rice and the refried beans. The beans need more substance to them. I ordered a bowl of menudo for $9.00. It came in a small Styrofoam container/cup. The size and portion was definitely not worth that amount, however the menudo was dark, very tender meat and good tasting. My brother ordered the beef enchiladas. We had similar thoughts on the rice and beans. He said the enchiladas were just ok, not worth ordering again. The tortillas are very good tasting, good thickness and soft. Some of the best tortillas I've ever had. Upon my observations it appears that 95% of customers were eating tacos, not plates. I've been here for breakfast before. I was satisfied with breakfast Tacos. Lunch just didn't cut it for me.
