Deciding to splurge and have a Sunday afternoon lunch with my wife and daughter. We decided to visit here. In the past I was happy with the service and the food. The 1st thing I noticed was how empty the place was. The 2nd thing I noticed was the dirty table. I ordered a sparkling water with lemon and the waitress put lime in the water. Instead of just returning with lemon she decided to deliver the drink to the table. I shook my head and just took the drink, I’ll try something new. After leaving the waitress returned and We ordered. My daughter left the table to freshen up. The waitress came to the table with the food. The waitress asked my wife if she wanted cheese on her pasta. I commented I like a lot of cheese so she started shredding the cheese I said, good. But she didn’t stop and said that’s not a lot. I said that’s fine. She then asked if my daughter wanted cheese I said she’s not here so we can’t answer for her, come back and ask her. The waitress argued with a question how about I just put some cheese on this and pointed to a small saucer, before I could object she was shredding cheese onto the saucer. She quickly walked away. Shortly after my daughter sat back down. I could see she was disappointed. After tasting my food all I wanted to do was send it back because it was way below the standard of the past. My daughter’s pasta was by her definition dry, meaning if they were trying to sparing the sauce they did this time. She was disappointed she didn’t even try to finish her plate. My wife’s dish was decent but nothing you couldn’t get at any average Italian restaurant. The waitress didn’t seem attentive or care. She did eventually return and ask if we needed anything but by that time I had salted and peppered my dish to get some flavor but i did ask for red pepper. That didn’t help. We ordered desert to go just to get going. This place is doomed if this is their new standard. No wants to pay the prices people have to pay for substandard food and poor service. It’s likely we will return but no time soon. This wasn’t the same experience we’ve had when we have large family gatherings attend. I hope Carrabba’d...
Read moreMy team came to Carrabba's today for a birthday lunch, there were 9 of us. When we arrived we received a eye rolling greeting from the woman at the front . There no other customers in the restaurant. The gentleman upfront was very nice and asking questions about birthdays. We were seated by a blonde waitress (late 40's) and menu's were given to us and the drink order was taken. We looked all over the menu to find the lunch menu as we all had looked at the lunch menu online and knew what we wanted. Once the waitress came back with the drinks one of my team asked for a lunch menu and the waitress right away says "the lunch menu is a very limited menu" as she walks away. Then comes back to state that the "lunch menu is not available" and again walked away. Once she came back to take orders I asked her exactly why is the lunch menu not available and she stated "There is a very large catering order back there and they do not have time to cook the lunch specials."
Hmmmmm a waitress with a table of 9 (automatic gratuity) small tip with lunch specials or a large tip with dinner menu. I am sooooo irritated at this situation as my team was looking forward to a nice birthday lunch and they ended up stressing how much it was going to cost them. If you are not going to offer lunch specials then do not advertise and if you make a decision not to honor lunch specials give me a heads up before I am seated at my table so I can make a decision to eat at your establishment or not. Please let our waitress know that it doesn't pay to be dishonest and that she could have been honest and received a good tip for hard work, but she decided to manipulate and to top it off she was not a good server.
My team usually goes out to lunch once a month, we will not be having lunch...
Read moreMy favourite restaurant…. Hmmmm The server was TOTALLY OFF tonight Missing all kind of steps of service, had to ask for a ton of things, she kept forgetting what I asked (spoon, more sugar, napkins…) I ordered a coffee with Bailey’s she brought the Bailey’s on the side and she had to go brew coffee (for some reason they didn’t have ready) she said it would take 25min to brew… ??? I’ve never heard 25min to brew coffee. She didn’t clear plates, she didn’t offer dessert, a hot mess to say the least. And now the food… ribeye med-rare nothing out of the extraordinary. One side was burnt and the other barely any grill marks on it. So they forgot to turn it over on time and served the burnt side down to hide the fact that it was burnt. Mashed potatoes were so DENSE that I’m sure it was the reheat from last night. Salad with not enough dressing, I could go on and on and on… The saving grace was the busboy. He was polite, fast, friendly, apologetic for the server mistakes (that were many) showed us how much he cared for us. He’s name was Alberto (I think) he had a big black moustache so you can’t miss him. He should be teaching the servers how to take care of people. I would have to think hard about coming back… so sad…
UPDATE So Carrabba’s wants me to contact THEM to “discuss” my visit… isn’t what I just did leaving a review?? If they want my business back then THEY should be making the effort to contact me. Not the other way around
Poor recovery management …
When there are so many choices to dine out Carrabba’s should be fighting for every customer they come across, not asking the customer to put time and effort on talking to someone about their...
