Matiki Island BBQ ā A Flavorful Hawaiian Feast Worth Every Bite!
Matiki Island BBQ did not disappoint! We ordered the BIG KAHUNA meal with a side of veggies and an extra order of beef ribs, and every bite was packed with flavor.
The BIG KAHUNA Platter
This dish was truly a feast! The combination of meats was perfectly grilled, smoky, and well-seasoned, capturing the essence of island-style BBQ. The teriyaki chicken was juicy, with just the right balance of sweet and savory, while the BBQ beef had a rich, caramelized crust that added an incredible depth of flavor. The short ribs were tender, marinated to perfection, and had that classic char-grilled taste that made them irresistibly good.
The accompanying rice was fluffy and slightly sticky, making it the perfect base to soak up the delicious sauces. The macaroni salad was creamy, well-seasoned, and had just the right amount of tanginess to balance out the richness of the meats.
Beef Ribs
The extra order of beef ribs was a great choice. These ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender with a deep, smoky flavor and a sweet-savory glaze that enhanced every bite. The meat was incredibly juicy, with a satisfying chew that made each piece unforgettable.
Side of Veggies
To round out the meal, we added a side of veggies, which were a refreshing contrast to the rich and smoky flavors of the meats. The vegetables were fresh, lightly seasoned, and perfectly cookedānot too soft, not too crunchy. They provided a nice, healthy balance to an otherwise indulgent meal.
Final Verdict
Matiki Island BBQ exceeded our expectations with their generous portions, authentic island flavors, and perfectly cooked meats. If you're a fan of Hawaiian BBQ or just love a good, hearty meal, this spot is definitely worth a visit. The BIG KAHUNA is perfect for those who want to sample a little bit of everything, and the beef ribs are a must-try. We will absolutely be returning for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreInitial Service & Price : The menu is complex. There are a lot of options. Being was my first time I wanted sort of a sampler to taste a few different meats. $40 for the Big Kahuna which had 3 meats and sides. When the food was ready, they didn't take it to the table. They just called our number. This felt weird because of the higher prices and the nice sit down area, I thought it would be more personal service and the food would be brought to you. When I sat back down I'd be lying if I didn't say the quantity of food was not as large as the picture.
The Meal : When opening what looked like a to go container instead of a plate, I was surprised that it didn't look like the quantity of meat on menu photo. The meal also came with green salad and macaroni salad. The green salad was fresh and delicious. The dressing was really tasty as well. Sadly, the mac salad was the opposite tasting dry with not really any flavor. The chicken was also very dry, I had to drink a lot while eating it to get it down. The steak was okay but the flavor seemed lack luster. The star of the dish for me was by far the short ribs and the saving grace of the meal. Deliciously flavorful and very tender. I wish I had just ordered more of that instead.
Final Opinion : I really wanted to like this place because it's so close to my house but I just felt for the higher pricing the food would be over all a bit better and the service would be warmer and...

Update - went there yesterday - very friendly, the dole whip was awesome -
the bad - the chicken and steak we ordered were very dry, we couldn't finish it - the rice was dry, almost bullets - i was very disappointed. I also ordered a couple of beef ribs, almost no meat, one of them had a 1/2 bite of meat and all fat - the last time I had them it was soooo much meat that I couldn't finish and the chicken, steak and kalbi were soooooo ono!!
I fly into Vegas regularly and don't usually leave the Hotel, but this is the one place I would venture out to - I was very excited to have food from there, it was over a 100 degrees and we still went.
I don't think I will be taking the time to go out there, called and only got a half hearted apology - gave them our order numbers but no offer of any concessions - there are too many local places to have your food not be authentic like it was the last few times I have been there.
I think I found a new place to try when in Vegas, sorry Matiki...
Update 2 - went back to try them again - this time was pretty freakin' ono!! the Kalbi was broke the mouth and the ribs was winna!! Faith has been restored in island cooking, definitely recommend...
