The manager has absolutely no business running anything requiring customer service. Granted, he seems nice enough, but he's apparently willing to lose two customers forever over a two dollar difference between an advertised special and menu price. He also clearly has no clue how to address complaints in general.
We went for a pizza and a pitcher of beer on Friday night. We had been a few other times and, although the service wasn't always great, the pizza was pretty good by Hendersonville standards. Walking in, I saw a special of a $9.99 16" cheese pizza. As their menu choices for pizzas start with a cheese and allow you to add topping (for $1.75 per topping for a 16"), I assumed that was the base price for a cheese pie. Although, the specials placard said - at the bottom of all of their food and drink specials for the week - no substitutions, I didn't consider adding toppings for $1.75 each a substitution. Since we were getting a bit of a deal on the pizza, we thought we'd add on some wings as an appetizer just to try them.
The food took forever to come out, and when it finally did, we were served a less-than-hot pizza. Our server, with no apologies whatsoever, then told us our wings would be out soon. We really intended to eat the wings first, then the pizza. Instead, the wings were still visibly hot while the pizza was getting even colder. We laughed at the server fail, and, had that been it, it probably would have just been chalked up to a bad server. She continued failing by only asking us if we wanted anything else when we had half a pitcher of beer and were currently eating. Apparently, she meant, "Do you want the check, because I don't want to think about your table anymore," because she took the extra plate she had brought (for wing bones, after the fact) and all of the extra napkins when I went to wash my hands after the wings. The wings, by the way, weren't all that great. Good price, but I'd rather pay a couple of bucks more for something I really enjoy. She also, during this time, brought a box for us. I was in the midst of a slice when she brought the check. No rush, of course.
The best part was when I questioned the price on the bill. Yes, it was just two dollars, but the special didn't say anything about only applying to plain cheese pizzas and, given their menu set-up, I thought my mistake was quite reasonable. We weren't looking for a free meal, just the two freaking dollars to be taken off of the bill. When the manager came out, he told us it didn't apply because it was "meant to bring in families." It was "for the kids who just want a cheese pizza." Well, the words I was thinking during that conversation weren't family friendly, I guess. When I mentioned the other things wrong with our meal and how they compounded the situation, he basically blamed us for not letting him know before. Of course, he talked to every other table in the dining area but ours before that. For us, it was also the combination of all of the factors that really got us. So no, I didn't complain about the first few things, but that last one was just one too many. ALL WE WANTED WAS TO HAVE THE CHECK ADJUSTED TO REFLECT THE SPECIAL PRICE! We were paying for the toppings separately, and we weren't arguing about that. The proper thing for him to do would have been to, apologize, adjust it, and explain that it wasn't something they typically honor. Oh, and MAKE IT CLEAR ON THEIR SPECIALS MENU!
We were okay with them until this, but if they're providing that level of customer service and happy to lose customers over $2, that's fine with us. There are too many other restaurants around to give people like this...

With all of the stress with the wildfries, smoke and Code Purple air quality…. pizza sounded like the perfect comfort food. So off we went to Mike's Pizza and Pasta for lunch on Thursday.
We each had a small side salad to start. My Caesar salad was absolutely delicious! Loved their creamy dressing that was mixed in with crisp romaine, a nice amount of shaved Parmesan and crispy croutons. My husband enjoyed his side House Salad.
Another thing also we liked is their salad bowls were served with a small plate underneath. Usually when you are trying to neatly mix dressing in, everything is falling everywhere and quite often a grape tomato notoriously escapes and bounces to the floor. We know what a mess that can be! Having that plate underneath helps and is a nice touch so thank you to Mikes for that!
Now onto our amazing pizza! We ordered a 16” pizza so we can have leftovers. We asked if they could do an olive oil, garlic base instead of sauce. “Absolutely!” So our pizza with an olive oil- garlic base, half pepperoni and half mushroom was ordered!
We’re from upstate NY where they have really great pizza, so we are pizza-picky. When our pizza came out of Mike’s kitchen our eyes widened! Wow! Very, very nice! Plus it was huge!
We had to sit back and admire it. The pizza had generous amount of delicious pepperoni and mushrooms, placed on just right. A perfect thin layer of delicious melted, oooey- gooey cheese. No stinginess from the kitchen at Mike’s Pizza at all, they are very generous. This pizza was amazing! The top was glistening with the right amount of oily goodness …not too much, not too little…it was just right and is EXACTLY how we like our pizza!
Their crust was perfect! Hand-tossed and nicely thin…they can go thinner if you want or they may even be able to go thicker. Ask Earl, who I will talk about in a minute.
It had the perfect chew, tender, light and slightly crisp all in one pizza! SO incredibly flavorful, seasoned just right with just the perfect amount of …EVERYTHING! A thin yet sturdy crust with super nice, slightly airy thin edges. The bottom was nicely crisp and browned just right. The pizza is foldable too if you are into that…me, I am a Miss Priss, so I use a knife and fork. Yasssss I know…sacrilege! 😜 My hubby just picks up a slice and eats it.
We enjoyed our pizza so much that we asked our waitress to please tell the kitchen how delicious their pizza was and to give them a round of applause from us. We loved this delicious pizza that much!
A nice man named Earl came out to talk to us. Earl knows pizza, has had the right training and he knows how makes it right. (In our conversation, he may have mentioned something about Italy too). He is true Pizza-Man! So hats off and Bravo to you Earl! (If you go there M-F, be sure to ask for Earl to make your pizza, otherwise he’s at their Brevard Location. ) Our waitress was amazing too, super friendly and very attentive.
Anyway, Mike’s Pizza and Pasta is now one of our favorites! Thanks guys, we loved your food and the service. It takes a team to do it right so take a bow guy and gals! Excellent job! Our pizza and salads were...

We went in and sat down. The waitress came over and was quite obnoxious about our seating ourselves when there was no sign stating to wait for a hostess. She was very brash and complained the entire time we were there about how this was her day off but she was actually there working her 4th double in a row. It was quite obvious she had been in some sort of altercation as she had a few bruises and cuts on her face. She was a very rough individual. No custo.er service or social skills at all. Two other parties came in and left for a lack of service while we were there, and she made snide comments to the other server working that day.
The food was very, very terrible. The lasagna was literally made without any spice in the sauce. Plain tomato sauce right out of a can. I guess they thought the Italian spice they shared out of the bottle onto the to would suffice as seasoning. The ranch dressing for the salad was basically white colored water with no flavor, and there was lettuce well past the expiration date, so it was basically inedible.
On top of the most miserable meal we have ever been served that we left uneaten, they literally added nearly $20 to the amount they submitted to the bank even after we put the total on the slip and signed it. Now, our bank has to request a paper copy of the receipt to correct the false charges.
I THINK THESE REVIEWS SHOULD HAVE RED STARS WITH NEGATIVE RATINGS BECAUSE A 1 STAR RATING IS GIVING THEM FAR TOO MUCH CREDIT!
UPDATE...stopped by, called, emailed multiple times to speak with the owner regarding fictitious charges added to the card after totaling and signing slip. Each and every time we have been told, the owner is not available. He has never made an attempt to reach back out to us either. They are fortunate that I have not reported this theft to the local authorities even though I have been advised to. Please do NOT visit this business. They are not worthy of...
