A genuine Cuban Food experience!! If you're looking for a high-quality Cuban Food experience this is the place to visit! We tried a bit of everything and were pleasantly surprised that a restaurant of this caliber is up here in the High Desert. A Diamond in the rough, the food we ordered from Havanazucar was on par with high end restaurants but still very reasonably priced; the combined decades of restaurant experience from Co-Owners Pedro & Fortunato was reflected in the perfectly cooked and pridefully staged/presented dishes they served us (Parrillada Havanazucar, Parrillada de Mariscos, Steak, Scallops, Mussels/Clams, Chicken, Cuban Style Rice, etc.) including their made in house Caramel Flan which was rich and flavorful with a smooth texture (really good). As if the good food wasn’t enough reason to stop by, Pedro and Fortunato have also decided kept their prices and generous portions at pre-pandemic levels even though inflation has affected virtually everything (especially meat). I know this review seems a bit over the top but I just can’t express how much I highly recommend this establishment; with the limited options out in the High Desert if you haven’t tried this restaurant, you’re...
Read moreThe food is good especially by high desert standards. I usually order delivery from this restaurant via doordash but today I decided I would pick up the order and I had a very bad experience regarding service. When I first arrived to pick up the order I heard the owner speaking negatively about me in Spanish. This was shocking and off-putting for me but I had already paid for my order and was going to get my food. They then tell me that the food is not there. I bring up my doordash receipt on my phone to show them I had already ordered and paid for my order. The manager then decides to scold me saying that he threw the food away. He tells me that I should call in advance if I'm picking up an order. After some back and forth he gives me my order. This was just a hassle and unnecessarily negative experience
I would have been a long time customer based on the food but as for the overall way the people here conducted themselves made this my last visit.
Its 2023, if you chose to speak negatively about a customer in Spanish be knowledgeable that they might understand you, even if it doesn't 'look' like they speak/understand Spanish. Be prepared to lose their business and...
Read moreThis was me and my family’s third time eating here over the years, and I can safely say we will not be back ever again. Food is overpriced, and mediocre at best. But to top it off. I asked for one sauce that went with my leftovers and I was charged $1.50 for FOUR 2oz dipping sauces that I did not ask for. Then, when I asked for sauce to go with my oxtail, I asked her if they charged and she repeated me and said “you want more sauce?” I said “yes.” and I was also charged an additional $1.50 lol…Like really! I asked because I didn’t want to pay for more sauce because such little sauce came on the oxtails to begin with. Little Star was the server and she only got a good tip because my husband wasn’t paying attention to the items listed and he paid the bill. Our bill was close to $200 and we were charged $7.50 for sauces! If I paid the bill, she wouldn’t have gotten paid until that was removed. Huge lesson learned. If you choose to eat here, don’t let them unknowingly nickel and dime you. Shame on them! Next time I want Cuban food, I will take a trip to Pomona and spend my money at Coco palm where I first fell in love with Cuban food. This place is simply...
