Came for the sush. Which was, by far, on point. I had ordered the crunchy roll and an eel and asparagus roll. Let me tell you, from the moment my plate showed up, I was immediately impressed. Just the aesthetics alone would have made me come back. But, food is more than just appearances, like a 1960s Mustang it can be appealing all it wants, but it doesn't mean squat if it ain't got the power. Just parts of something that would be better elsewhere.
After seeing such a miraculate plate of food, my instinct is to snap the wooden choppy sticks as they are a threat and must be taken down. Using this new tool I have crafted from an elongated wooden forked stick, I am able to slide my daddles in between the carcass of this now decapitated stick system at which I am able to grab these delectable looking little morsels of nutrient enriched protein sush cakes. Navigation of the wooden tool I crafted has created a pinch point for which these little treats are within reach and my daddles can remain clean. There is the option to use the metal utensils that many many people opt for, but I prefer to have the quick snap kill of the wooden choppy stickys.
The first bite. Let me tell you. My. Mind. Was. Blownnnnnnn. I had never felt such excitement from the taste of something so raw. The way it was able to sensuate the inside of my mouth was not unwelcomed in the slightest way. The moment it touched my tongue, I felt as if I was going for a ride. And that bite rode me like no person ever could. It had me smelling colors and seeing flavor. I felt transported from this world and I got lost in a euphoria. After a moment and a bit of a sweat sesh, I was able to swallow that bite and feel a rush of pleasure wash over my entire body. I knew that from this moment on, there would never be a person out there that could touch me the way this sushi did.
Bottom line. Go. Enjoy the outstanding staff. Get some food that's so good you feel guilty going home to your partner. After that first bite, you can never make that same eye contact with loved ones that...
Read moreThe 2 starts are for the hostess, she was amazing, she handled the situation well considering no one else seemed to care at all. This was my first time at wild wok. I was the first option through the door at 11am. The first issue is that this lady had a line straight off and stuck on the phone taking a togo order, other employees around and yet no one else feels compelled to offer assistance to her until she's 5people deep and begging for help. Secondly, I ordered noodles and a half a sushi roll (over-priced for very little BTW), and I waited 30 minute's! I know for certain because it was 11:35 when I got into my car and I know I took a few minutes to order. The poor hostess was checking and checking and checking on my food, she felt so badly that she personally bought me an eggroll and a drink without offering to because she was so embarrassed at the indifference. I told the guy bringing out togo stuff that it was my first time and this was sad, and his explanation was that the rice had to cook... I was kind and said that I would have understood had he said something (seriously though didn't yall have time to prep, I mean its rice), i said i have worked in the food industry, talking to customers about their food does a big service. The management needs to get their balls together and whip these guys into shape, the indifference in the air is palpable, and the guy i talked to didn't seem like a manager, but if he is i hope he takes my advice. Customer experience is often a reflection of management, just like a childs behavior is oftentimes a direct reflection of their parenting, so either fix the problem or fix the...
Read moreThis is one of the best places to get Chinese food around Hickory.
The food is generally good, service is okay, however it is currently slow due to staffing issues. Management needs to step it up on the cleanliness and pitch in to help the staff. The hostesses should pitch in more as well as they often just stand around when they could check on drink refills and other possible customer needs.
I hope the owner is reads this and realizes that customers are paying attention! The restaurant is getting tired and it is time to invest some money into fixing it up! Modernize the decor and clean the many dusty surfaces, such as dust on the exposed HVAC duct work and other ceiling surfaces.
We recently attended my niece's 15th birthday there and for 20+ people in our group, they had one server tending to us. How ridiculous is that? Management just doesn't seem to care anymore. If they did, they would have been out there pitching in to make it a great experience so all of us could brag on Wild Wok and the great birthday experience it could have been. Instead, here I am posting a review that isn't 5 stars. A missed...
