I have been to this place on several occasions and the food was pretty good. We went last night on a humbug and the food and our chef was terrible. Do not get the chef Viet. First of all the food is too expensive for the quality I should have known it was going to be a disaster from the beginning when the chef went to light the match to clean the grill and he almost set his self of fire. Maybe the chefs need to be retrained with the proper OSHA standards. While I ordered the fillet jumbo shrimp and lobster, I asked for my fillet to be cooked medium it was. Almost well done, on the same note the people who sat at the table with us ordered ribeye steak and shrimp and that steak was so thin and flat. They ordered their steak to be cooked medium rare the steak was well done when they got it. The scallops and the lobster was rubbery because he left them on the grill to long. The rice was crunchy because he burned it and he gave us the mushrooms that go with the steak after we had eaten out steak. As a matter of fact we got all our meat before we got the rice and noodles and I thought that was odd to eat the food out order as such. I like my vegetable cooked well done they were half cooked and he didn’t chop the vegetables up well, they were too big. When I went to complain to management they brushed it off at first our tab was over $100 and when I kept stressing that and the service they finally gave us $10 off however our food was still over $100 and we still gave the waiter a $10 tip. We ordered drinks and they up charge for a corona for 4.85 we had 3 beers we could have purchased a 12 pack. Not to mention their cooler must not be all that great because the beer wasn’t cold when they brung it to us it was almost like room temperature. This place does price scrounging and it’s ridiculous!!! Also, This place makes too much money not to have done any renovations. It’s too dark it’s up in the cut and the ceilings and wall paint looks like it will collapse at any moment. The interior looks real basic and dingy and the quality of the food does not compare with its prices. I will not be coming back to this place until some changes are made. Otherwise that is the last $100 Fuji will ever get from me!!! I usually have leftovers I left the food there for them to throw...

I do not go here often but tonight I ordered to go out of a whim and was reminded why. I'll start with the good. The food, at least mine, was excellent. Portions were fair and my ribeye was the best I had in a very long time. For some customers, I understand the 5 star ratings for the taste of the food and the service. One employee helped me carry the food to my car which was really nice. I appreciated that. The food and service I feel are 5 star.

But I have to give only two stars. Why? When I left the restuarant, the door handles and all around them were literally covered in what I can only describe to feel like 2 years of bacon grease. After my hand slid through the grime, I looked and saw just how filthy the doors were. It turned my stomach. Gross....just....WTH. For the price I paid for a family of 5 ($140) of to go japanese food minus the entertainment, I expect to find a clean place. Sure it needs some MAJOR updating. It hasnt changed in the 20 years I have been visiting off and on. But, come on. If you cannot update, at least clean the living daylights outta the place! This is a place where food enters your mouth. If the front door is literally a petri dish of God only knows what, what kind of impression does that make?

I hope management reads this review. This place could be amazing. I'm sorry, but good food isnt enough to bring me back after what i saw tonight. I am mortified. I cannot believe I was able to even eat it when I got home and I didnt tell my family as they wouldnt have eaten the food and then I wasted $140. I refuse to return and that is sad because they do have great...

Every year my husband and I go to a different Japanese steakhouse for our anniversary. This year we picked this one. Putting it as nicely as possible... this place sucked. It’s really rundown on the inside (dripping water from the ceiling with a bucket to catch it, cracked and missing floor tiles, stained and threadbare carpet, some weird red sealant/caulk around the grill that was peeling up, table tops were in desperate need of refinishing, etc) the waitress was frazzled even though she only had 2 tables at the time, it took 30 mins just to get drinks and salad/soup and another 30 before the cook even showed up, the cook pretty much burned everything except for the filet mignon (which he never asked how we wanted it cooked and was waaaaay underdone) and overall just didn’t seem like he knew what he was doing. The chef didn’t interact with us at all and that’s part of the fun. Not to mention the waitress also refilled my drink with the wrong drink. Portion sizes are WAAAAY uneven. The table next to us had heaping piles of everything - rice, veggies, noodles, etc. and ours barely even covered the plate. The only thing that was to portion was the filet and that’s because it’s a precut piece of meat.

My husband also said the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting.

The only positive things I have to say about this place is that the chairs were pretty decent and the bar area looked recently renovated and a nice area to enjoy a cocktail or two.

Only reason this is getting 2 stars is because the experience might have been better with a different cook that I saw...

So I went for my birthday tonight, and....it was mostly good. Good conversation, other people seated with us were nice and had pleasant conversation. The food was...for the most part good. However, the chicken was way overcoooked. It was so dry and crispy it was like a chicken tender almost. Giving it three stars because while everything else was good, the chicken totally ruined the meal for me which is a selling point of this restaraunt. Maybe next time will be better, and no one else will have this issue, but I want people aware that this did happen and may happen to them.

Fabulous food! Fantastic atmosphere, our hibachi server was MAGNIFICENT! His name was Tomy! They sang "happy birthday " to our HPU STUDENT , our 19 year old shy daughter; p in Japanese too! Very sweet and brought her banana cake with a lit candle. We would recommend this as a must try spot to dine!

I took my wife here for her bday because I'm not a Japanese food fan. It was really neat watching him prepare and cook the food right in front of us. The food was really good, but the house soup was amazing. I would definitely enjoy returning here again in the near future!
