We stopped by in June 2023. Very few customers present. Was waiting to be seated when the sour smell overtook us. What is that? It was so bad I wondered how people could eat with this sour nasty smell that I can only contribute to an old dirty mop bucket smell. I assume it’s coming from the carpet. Needless to say. We left and went elsewhere. If you go here and find new carpet and a pleasant smell let us know. Sometimes you just want some IHOP, but not like this.
Update Jan 2024 So we visited IHOP again today. I am pleased to report that the offensive smell is gone. It wasn’t busy so we were greeted immediately. Our table was clean and our waitress was attentive and prompt. The food was good ( except for my pancakes that tasted as if they had been made earlier that day). I would suggest that more attention be given to the details as this is often what makes for an exceptional experience. Let’s wipe the chrome or steel pieces so they are clean and shiny. Let’s do a uniform check each morning. The personnel present had soiled uniforms. Let’s mop the floor more often so that it doesn’t feel sticky. There has definitely been good improvements from our last visit and I commend you on that. Good job. Now let’s concentrate on the details that will move you from just ok to wow it’s great. Keep improving. I’ll be back. Update Feb 2024 After two visits back to this location I am pleased to report some very good improvements. The floor is clean. The offensive smell is gone and the place now smells like a restaurant should. I can see improvements all through the restaurant. Uniforms were clean and professional today. The food was good if not great. I can’t complain about the food I ate all of it. The service was prompt and professional. I’m updating my rating to four stars. My only complaint was the number of cigarette butts at the front door. If that is corrected they will get that fifth star. I’ll be back soon to check. I’ve noticed an increase in the number of patrons lately. Obviously a result of the changes that have been made. I commend IHop for the obvious turn around. Keep up the good work and go for that fifth star. I’ll be back in two weeks. Update June 2024 I am happy to report our most recent visit to this IHop has demonstrated improvements to all our previous suggestions. I also notice that there seems to be an increase in the patronage here. The floors were clean. The wait staff uniforms were professional. The smelly carpet is gone. Even the outside entrance has been cleaned and now presents itself as a place one would choose to dine. Improvements all around have been made. As we all know there are many places to get a breakfast. It’s the little things that distinguish a good restaurant from a great one. I’m glad to see that this IHOP is well on its way to becoming a great place to enjoy a meal. All things considered I am still reluctant to give 5 stars at this time. As I said it’s the little things and one of those little things on this visit was the bench seats. The ones that line the perimeter of the dining area. If one looks closely between the seat back and the seat you’ll find food crumbs. Ants. Crayons. And I even spotted a dead roach. (Glad to say he was deceased). These particles of waste exist all along this area of the bench seats. It’s because of this I can’t as of yet give my 5th star. A lot of work has been done. There are obvious improvements throughout the establishment. For these improvements I commend you for taking a place we once walked out of before being seated to a place we can enjoy. As a restaurant with good food and good surroundings I’m happy to give 4 stars. But to get the 5th a little more will have to be done. We will return soon. Keep up the outstanding work...
Read moreHad an incident with a male employee in the ladies restroom while my lady friend was using the facilities. He made no effort to leave or apologize. Management and corporate were notified and our meal was comped, but that doesnt rectify the incident. My friend was terribly upset and embarrassed and vowed never to return. Your lucky I didnt call the police.
Always have loved the food and the service, but lately everything seems less than excellent. This last time I asked for soup and was told "we didnt do soup today". Later asked for vinegar for my greens and was told "we dont have vinegar". When our main coarse arrived part of it was blazing hot and the vegetables were barely warm (wouldn't melt the butter I had to ask for twice). I then had to ask for my salad which should have been brought out before the main coarse.
The whole experience was not horrible but it was way below IHOPs normal standard, and this is merely a couple of times out of my usual once a week visit. I've even been overcharged at this location. I stop at IHOPs on my travels and have always had a good experience.
I normally frequent this store and I'll give anyone the benefit of the doubt but I'll not be going back to the Parris Ave. High Point, NC store. Apparently there is a real management problem here because there are fewer patrons in the store every time I've been there in the past four months. Clean it up, or close it IHOP.
Oh and International House of Burgers. You need to fire the idiot that came up with that. There are better ways to deversify. Too many burger places now. You really want to put yourself out of business?

Read moreOverall I’m going to give this location a ⅖ instead of a ⅕ because I want to come across as genuine as possible, and not like an angry customer. I used the mobile app to order 4 buttermilk chocolate pancakes; which cost $9.60 after tax. Pros: Nice Cook, Extra Pancake The two pros were that the service was kind, and the cook gave me 5 pancakes instead of the 4 I ordered. Cons: Slow Service, Unclean Cooking Tools, Wrong order The three main reasons that I’m giving this place a bad review is the ones listed above. I used the app to place my order, and I scheduled it for 8:30. I didn’t show up until 8:46 and when I got inside and waited 5 minutes for them to get to me, the cook said that my order would be coming right out. Just for the record, I saw 2 people working there, and there was only one other family dining inside. The cook then grabbed the batter out of the fridge and proceeded to cook my pancakes. After about 10 minutes he came out with my order. When I opened my order at home, I noticed that the pancake batter was chocolate, when I ordered buttermilk. I wasn’t that frustrated though, but when I started eating them they had this burnt taste. I was only able to eat two before they got too sickening, so that extra pancake wasn’t a delight to receive. They didn’t appear to be burnt, and the cook didn't cook them for a prolonged amount of time, so I assume that the grill they were cooked on was dirty. While I was waiting I couldn't help but noticed that their clean rating was a 92 which is low, as most restaurants I go to have a 95 and above. Overall, the cons will by the reason that I will not be returning to this...
