418 Burgers is a gem in Highland Park. While I'm not able to give a completely comprehensive review (since I can only have the non-meat items), I'd like to say that even if you're vegetarian, this burger place is an excellent option. This is because of a few reasons:
-Their selection of ingredients Quality comes first in their process. By choosing the highest quality ingredients, the process of achieving a stellar end product has already begun. The vegetables in their burgers taste fresh and even the bun is toasted to perfection.
-A small menu The menu doesn't consist of a thousand items. As everything is picked meticulously, there are a handful of items you can order. However, you can always customize your burger and create something new every time you come in. There are also salads and sides like french fries and onion rings. Functionality and form come together beautifully on the menu.
-Cleanliness The place is really clean and that's something I find very important. By having a clean work environment, it's another indicator that the business cares about their product and customers. THIS is SO important in the food industry!!!
I want to specifically talk about the food I've eaten:
-Onion Rings French Fries (Garlic Parmesan and Sweet and Savory flavors) -Falafel Burger -Waldorf Salad
Their onion rings are great and their fries can be flavored with additional seasonings. Both are excellent and if you are ever in, please try the onion rings with the sweet mustard sauce! I like that their fries are crispy and not soggy or overly greasy.
The falafel burger is my GO TO. It's tantalizing with everything that typically comes with it but I sometimes switch it up and have them make it in the style of their Mushroom Swiss burger. It's because the house-made caramelized onions pair so well with the falafel and tzatziki sauce. Ahh, food bliss!
Their Waldorf salad always tastes fresh. My favorite part of this dish are the candied pecans that are also house-made. Everything pairs so well and the serving and presentation are generous and filling.
That's all I have to say for this location. I know that some of the items in the menu can be pricey but think of it this way: You are supporting a small business, paying for the best and freshest quality, and treating yourself! You can go to fast food chains and buy really cheap burgers (there's nothing wrong with that, it's something I do), but dishing out the extra bills for a 418 Burger is quite the experience. Especially if you LOVE burgers or want to learn more about how to make them. The quality is in the food and your money will be...
Read moreUpdated review from 11/8/2022 Second time ordering and this was a better experience. No longer dry burgers and the order was done earlier than their estimate time. Very happy with the large mushroom onion burger because it came out exactly medium (mostly pink) and was moist. My father also said his cheeseburger was not dry like last time. The onion rings were great as usual and we got the 418 sauce. It reminds me of the big mac sauce although it's different. It's pink, sweet and tart with a trace of heat. Will return!
From 8/15/2020 They're A-OK. Got the regular Jersey burger, which the site says is well-done and juicy, but patty was on the dry side. However, the over easy egg made up for the moisture and the burger as a whole was on point. My wife enjoyed her Italian chicken, but my dad didn't like his dry regular burger. The onion rings were delicious. However, we selected the 418 sauce and only got ketchup.
Some discrepancies between the website and menu in the store. Website said $5.50 for regular burger, but store says $5.75. I ordered online and was charged $5.50.
Placed ordered online around 11:10am and got a text saying it will be ready by 11:30. I get there at 11:29 and the guy says 5 more minutes. 15 minutes later, after seeing my 3 sandwiches laid out to dry for so long for no discernible reason, it's finally ready when another staff comes to put toppings on. To be fair, I saw they were putting out 10+ orders. I live 3 minutes away so even though it was a quick drive home to eat, these were too dry...
Read moreI went here recently...and went inside. I was told I had to order online...not in person. Went back outside to order, had trouble with the site... came back in to say site was frozen ...so then the restaurant person took my order. I was advised my order would be ready in 30 mins. I came back in 30 mins, and was told 20 more mins, I returned at 20 mins, and this time I was told 10 more minutes. I returned aft 15 mins, and they were bagging my order. The food was NOT as I had ordered it. Plain onions instead of caramelized... and they forgot the mayo...And ...the food is expensive ! Basically for 3 burgers, 2 orders of fries and 1 onion ring... it was $47.00 NEVER AGAIN !!! It’s called LIVE AND LEARN ! And for me — NEVER AGAIN !!!! I/we would have ordered from the website if it was noted “ONLINE ORDERS” ONLY. If we had been advised it was a ONE hour wait we would have come back after one hour instead of trying to pick up three times. Also, if 418 Burgers is that busy, and it was quote unquote RUSH HOUR, then why isn’t it better staffed than just 2 cooks... and no other help on site ? We were just trying to solicit/honor local businesses in our area, since many restaurants are struggling during this time of COVID 19. But I can see our business was NOT appreciated. Then ...to have received a Negative Reply from 418 Burgers was The Topper... not even an Apology !!! So as I said before... ...
