Chef Tan has really bad customer service. After waiting for a gruelling 2 hours for my food, their ignorant delivery guy argued with me for 20 minutes about how I didn't tip him (which I did, more than I honestly should have). Here's what happened.
It started when I placed my order with seamless at around 4.50pm yesterday, and their delivery time said 6.15. After agreeing to wait for an hour and 15 minutes for my food, I called the restaurant at 6.25 inquiring about its status. That's when a person on the other line told me that they just received my orde(which made absolutely no sense since I received a confirmation from the restaurant a few minutes after placing my order). So right after my call got cut, I get an email saying that my order has been delivered. That made absolutely no sense so I inquired with seamless about what was going on. The gentleman was very helpful and spoke to restaurant. He mentioned how it's odd that they confirmed the order and 'did not receive' it. He also mentioned how the restaurant said that they will not compensate me for the trouble. Howecer, the money was returned to my account And hence the call ended.
I then received a call from the restaurant asking me if they would like to deliver it to me directly and that it would take 20 minutes. Keeping the time in mind, I trusted them with this and went ahead with it. 40 minutes later, at 7.30pm, the delivery guy comes and the receipt is the same amount that I paid on seamless (tip included). So I went ahead and paid him and as I was heading back in, he calls out to me and asks for a tip. I stood there thinking I had made a mistake with the money amount and went back to check. It was the same amount. The guy then went on about how he made the effort and came all the way to deliver and if I didn't 'want' to tip him I shouldn't bother. And it was a rant. After numerously trying to explain to him that it is included, I asked him to call his manager and talk to him about it instead of trying to make me explain what I 'didnt do'.
Frustrated with this, I called Chef Tan again to talk to the manager and was told that 'I need to talk to the man on the phone before talking to the manager.' I have never experienced such ignorance and lack of interest in customer service and am under the impression that when a customer asks for a manager, they are directly transferred or given some kind of contact information. I gave him my phone number and name and asked him to pass it along to the manager. It has been over 24 hours and no one has bothered calling back.
Needless to say that I will not be ordering from this restaurant again and will not recommended it to anyone because they do not value their...

None of the furniture's matched and the lighting was weirdly placed elsewhere. Nonetheless, the furniture's were in great shape considering the place is relatively new. Their dumplings/buns however you say it is out of this world! They were fresh, hot, and well spiced. So I recommend it, highly. The waiter was quick and attentive. Jasmine tea was amaze-balls!
Bad: I ordered the fried fish with spicy chillis and rice for $30.00. In my head I thought the fish was going to be considerably big and filling. Well, so much for hopeful thinking . I was served the fish and it was incredibly small... rarely any meat on the fish and it was incredibly salty. It was spicy for sure but it was too salty! Very disappointed to have paid $30.00 for a small, salty fish. Tone down the menu. Its extremely intimidating and I felt like it told me a story instead of serving its purpose. Our waiter rushed us out of there. Sat down at 7:45pm and we left at 8:30pm. Didn't ask us if we wanted any dessert or more tea or anything.
Overall I was happy with certain parts but disappointed with the meal and the price. We ordered a chicken and broccoli plate, fried fish, dumplings, with tea and soda which costs us $60 not including the tip. That's $33 a plate for 2...

Normally when you see a 1 star, it's usually about customer service, but no, I'm talking about their food this time.
I don't know if they treat their take out differently or something. I ordered their Scallion Fried Rice, there's nothing in it but rice. The amount of scallion and egg is barely even visible at all.
I mean literally barely visible, you can't even see them at a glance. They are at most 2 or 3% of the whole thing. If I took a picture, you will have to zoom in to see them. I got too mad and slam the rice on their front desk and left, and forgot to take it. Yet the whole thing is weirdly green, I'm wondering if they put any artificial coloring in it, since there's no way they can make the whole thing green with so little scallion. (if you are reading, yes, that is me this morning).
My roommate ordered the other fried rice, the situation is pretty much the same. I did not pay $10 for just rice. I don't remember fried rice being that bad in dine in.
My roommate is a fan of their food, and frequently order delivery from them. They also complain that they get much less food when they order delivery (For dishes worth 20+ dollars, they get not even half of what they get compared to dine in).
Work on your delivery quality control. If that's the intention of the owner to cut edges on delivery food, I don't expect you guys...
