Whenever I'm in NJ I try to arrange a get-together with a group of friends who met at a support group some 16 years ago. Though all our lives are very different now, we've managed to stick together. Today 6 of the 7 of us were available on the same date, so I suggested that we try LePeep, a change from the E. Brunswick diner we usually meet up in. With its Rte. 1 location, it was easily accessible to those who had to drive a distance. Some had never been there; others, like I, had been there once eons ago.
It was Sunday, so the place was jammed. But even though the earlier arrivals had been told there'd be a 20 minute wait, we were seated within 10.
We all ordered different things, ranging from omelets to a burger to dessert crepes, and everyone was more than satisfied with their food. I had the Spanish omelet, and was surprised that the salsa was quite spicy at this white-bread family place. Though I love the chorizo it was supposed to come with, I changed it to turkey sausage in my quest for a slightly healthier meal. The omelet was huge and was very tasty. I forgot to specify that I didn't want the eggs browned, and was glad to find that they were perfectly cooked through without a speck of brown. It came with Peasant Potatoes and rye toast (my choice). Even the coffee was pretty good, and usually if it's not Starbucks, it's undrinkable to me. I could only eat half of the omelet and potatoes, so again, it will be another of my favorite meals - leftovers!
I never expected to be giving LePeep four stars, but the service from the waitress and the amount of time to get our food, as well as the taste and quantity of the food, deserves it. The only thing marring our experience was the sheer amount of noise in the place, making it difficult for us to exchange all the news we had to share with each other. And don't get me started on babies who don't just cry, which I can deal with, but those who shriek continuously and ear-piercingly and have parents who just don't give a rat's ass whose meal they're ruining. Not the fault of the restaurant, but some noise-dampening modification would help. Despite that, I'd definitely consider...

Fridays on my lunch break I grab a bunch of extra to bring home for my lunch the next day since I don't live in Highland Park. But I've also driven the 15-20 mins to pick up food on my days off for me and my family. It's that good. I wont order Chinese from anywhere else. But they have so much more. The menu is massive. Thai, Sushi, Japanese...there's something for everyone. Always hot, always fresh, great ingredients, great portion sizes, fair prices and the staff there is absolutely wonderful.
-Original Review- First, I have to say I accidentally reviewed this place instead of another sub-par restaurant. And today, I finally had a chance to try Sultan Wok and WOW! Amazing food! I'm a huge fan of steamed/fried Dumplings and I'm very picky, but the fried dumplings here were the BEST I've ever had. The dough was nice and fluffy and the filling was perfectly in proportion to the dough. It was nicely fried and the dipping sauce was the best I've had.
The homemade egg roll are incredible! They're light with a perfect crunch and they're so delicious. The Beef lo mein was excellent. So many times I get beef lo mein that has no flavor and needs to be doused in spy sauce. Not the case here. It was perfect. The noodles were excellent, the veggies perfectly cooked and the beef was tender and delicious.
I don't live in Highland Park and I only get a chance to get this food on break while working some days, but I'm serious when I say that the next time I want Chinese food at home, I will happily drive 20 minutes to grab this. It's that good! Everything was hot and fresh and not to mention the staff was incredible nice, friendly and helpful.
Do yourself a favor and get some great food...
Read moreWhat a terrible experience!! I placed an order on Uber Eats but I guess because this restaurant is so close to my house the restaurant delivered my order? I ordered a large (quart) of Beef with String Beans. When my order was delivered they gave me a small (pint) of food. I immediately called the restaurant and before I could explain what happened the woman told me sorry, we will bring your food. My second small container gets delivered and the beef in that second container looked completely different from the first delivery. The beef in the first delivery looked like what the beef normally looks like when you order beef and broccoli, pepper steak, or any other beef meal. The second order looked like little fried pieces of I don’t know what!! Does this restaurant have a shortage of beef? I definitely didn’t get what I paid for and I advise anyone thinking about ordering from this restaurant to go in person or you will get bamboozled! And to make matters worse, the delivery driver asked me if I had anything for him. I told him delivery is paid through the app. He tells me no he didn’t get anything so I gave him a tip. I look on my receipt and I was charged a $2.00 delivery fee. The restaurant is less than 2 minutes...
