So the Plain slices that I had were good by me but the ethics in there are a bit ridiculous. I walk in , its hot, no oven exhaust fan being utilized, there’s a large delivery driver wolfing slices at the front counter taking most of the space up when people walk in. I ask the guy at the hot oven wearing no gloves handling food, “May I please have the lunch special”. His response- a finger point, “ you can pay there”. That’s all he sais. Great customer service! I head to the counter end I’m directed to and I tell a girl standing there , “ yes I’m getting the lunch special “. She stands there looking blank, looks at another employee and whispered something at him seemingly asking What is that? With confusion all over her face. I guess not knowing about the sign on the window that said 2 slices and a soda can lunch special, Whatever! We get past that and I pay. Now she’s got directions for me and points and sais “ you can wait down there “ real nasty like. I head to the other end where the big delivery driver is finishing up leaving behind a mess of sauce and crumbs on the counter food plates and boxes are passed across. No one standing around cares to jump on cleaning that up himself included obviously. Oh well. Then the guy goes did u want all the slices in one box for each of you( talking about the guy I came in with) I said “ No! 2 separate orders, 2 separate slices of 2 each equals 2 separate boxes does it not”? Noticing he was just trying to add to being cheap, remember no oven exhaust operational making the place incredibly hot, I said you know what just give me a plate thanks buddy, no response to that , oh well! My thoughts on his penny pinching , if ya stop paying all the overhead, ie: the girl standing around doing nothing who doesn’t know the shop has a lunch special, and/or the ill mannered delivery driver, or perhaps you gained some customer service skill of any kind, you would have booming business and not need to pinch pennies so much. Maybe? Idk but I won’t return here for nothing. I’ll...
Read moreI have been very displeased in recent months with Giddy's service. I always want to support Jewish businesses, but the service here has been quite disappointing.
Back in February 2024, at the East Brunswick location, I walked in an hour before closing to order 4 plain slices to go. They told me it would take 12 minutes to prepare and asked me to take a seat while they made it. The store was fairly empty; I was one of the only people seated at a table. 15 minutes later, I asked about the status, and they said it would take another 10 minutes, to please be patient. A full 30 minutes into my order, I asked the owner about the status again, and he said they did not make the pizza because I hadn't paid for it. When I said that they hadn't told me to pay, just to have a seat, he couldn't care less. They felt no responsibility. The only person who felt bad about the situation was the delivery person, who was leaving for a delivery as I first entered the store and was shocked to see me still waiting for 4 slices when he returned 40 minutes later.
Last week (June 2024), I went with a friend to the new Highland Park location. My friend ordered a gluten free personal pie and a diet coke, while I ordered one plain slice--and we paid for it on the spot. 25 minutes in, nothing, not even the diet coke. I asked about the status, and they had no idea what order we were talking about. Once again, didn't feel the slightest bit bad.
I have heard of other instances of Giddy's forgetting about people's orders and providing excuses that it's really busy. I have friends who do not consistently keep Kosher and have opted to go to non-Kosher pizza places because of poor service they have heard of or experienced at Giddy's.
Their food is fine, but their service is awful. Giddy's lost a customer in me, and I look forward to the day when Jerusalem Pizza is up and running again as I have always been pleased with...
Read moreSummary: A fairly delicious pizza is overshadowed by poor service and an unwelcoming environment.
Experience: I went in to place an order for take out. Aside from a single employee who ensured I got a menu and explained options, every other employee was cold and non-welcoming. While waiting for my take out order, I received judgmental looks from the staff who stood and stared for periods of time. Also while waiting for my take out order, I had a beverage I had brought in with me(that was unopened) that I had picked up along the way there and was merely holding. A staff member approached me and told me they needed to inspect my drink to ensure it was kosher. Without my permission, they snatched the drink from my table to inspect it. I was then instructed not to open it(it was still unopened) and I should only drink things that are kosher. I was told it would take about 20 minutes for my order however, I waited about 40 minutes and no order was brought forward. It wasn't until the restaurant was mostly empty and employee finally asked me if I was still waiting on my order.
Food: The pizza was delicious. The cheese and sauce is fresh as well as a crunchy crust. A bit higher priced then you would expect to pay for this quality but fairly good nonetheless.
I can say this will be my first and last experience at Giddy's pizza cafe. While the food was good, the poor quality of the service and the unwelcoming atmosphere make the price of admission to this pizza establishment too high. I won't be returning and I won't be recommending...
