Norton's Restaurant — Restaurant in Highland Park

I generally love Norton's. First I had to ask for water several times. We had asked for them to take one glass away because someone else was visiting us at our table and drank out of one of the glasses that would have been ours. They took that glass away and didn't understand that we wanted a new glass. Another member of our party asked for iced tea and it was never brought. Not sure whether or not she was charged for it. We were eating outside and the bees were horrible. We were seated next to flowers and an open container of honey. One person in our party was stung and another person in our party was highly allergic. We could barely begin our meal and kept calling for the manager because the wait staff was not helping us. Finally I had to go inside and call for the manager. The co-owner came out as they were packing up our food. There was no room on the inside patio for us and we were not willing to eat inside due to Covid. He apologized for his staff as they brought out our checks and the extra to-go food I had ordered, as well as a full container of coleslaw because I had asked for a container to put my coleslaw in. I should have posted along time ago! I have been coming to this place for so many years as I serve the northshore. Took me a few days to make it to this place after the tragedy that just occurred on the 4th because I knew I needed to be ready. I have been a clinical massage therapist going on 18 years. Jeff has always remembered me and so has the rest of their staff. I tell all my new residents here to check this place out. The food is the best, the bar is the best and the people are warm and yes this is a very rich suburb but no one will make you feel less than even if it's obvious you don't live in their tax bracket. The love I felt there after what happened was beautiful and the pain is something I wish I knew how to take away. I have seen Jeff many times and I will never forget that look in his eye when he seated me. These people care and that kind of service or love for humanity is rare. I appreciate you all so much and I wish I could give you all something to ease the pain you all are experiencing. Wow, another great experience. This place was wonderful. The food was great. The atmosphere is awesome and cozy. The entire table with six of us. Had excellent service and excellent food hands down. It was a wonderful experience. We had the barbecue burger, which was cooked perfection. The fries were wonderful, and I had a steak sandwich mistake was exquisite. Low pricey, but that’s OK. It was well worth it. Our server. Lorenzo was amazing. Great personality. Connected very well with the table since we had someone from Mexico and we spoke Spanish and it was just a beautiful time. Great drinks. Of course, I had Guinness, which is a no-brainer, and an easy win but we also enjoyed some tequila. And that was wonderful. If you were in the neighborhood, please check them out.
