Wife and I have known about this place for a while now but hadn't made the trek up to Highland Village to try it out yet. However, we received a coupon so we figured it was a great opportunity to try it out. We hit the place up during happy hour on a Thursday and were seated right away. The menu is straightforward, offering a variety of pretty standard Italian options. I was thrilled to see Pasta Bolognese as one of the choices, as it's always been one of my favorites. I was not disappointed! The balance of flavors, as well as the texture, were both absolutely spot on. Complementary garlic bread was plenty tasty. And the happy hour drink choices were great. My wife got the lasagna and it was not only outstanding, but somewhat unique in its preparation and presentation. The basic marinara it was served with was also quite well done, with a depth of flavor and not too sweet. The wife also ordered the sangria to drink and reported that it was delicious.
We are always easily tempted by dessert, and this is no exception. Having seen a picture of it online, we couldn't resist trying the bread pudding. Be warned, it is very fresh and made to order, so it takes a hot second for it to arrive, but good googly moogly is it ever worth it! Warm, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Easily in my top 5 bread puddings, and that's often our go-to choice, so that's saying something. Do yourself a favor and save room for dessert.
The prices were almost too good to be true, especially for the portions. Happy Hour (4-6 pm) drinks were in the $5 range -- wine, well drinks, and a couple of their specialty drinks.
Shout out to our server CJ who took excellent care of us (including a helpful nudge on that last item!). We had a great experience at Salerno and we will definitely...
Read moreI ordered delivery from Salerno's for lunch at home. I chose the Pasta Bolognese with Fettuccine, the Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine, the soup of the day, a side caesar salad, and Tiramisu. My total order cost was $62.46
The chicken alfredo was mediocre at best. The sauce was mostly liquid and tasted closer to something you would get off the shelf than what you would expect at a highly rated restaurant. The chicken, though seasoned well, was over cooked, dry, and chewy. The mushrooms were a nice addition to the dish, but the flavor was mostly drowned out by excessive garlic.
The pasta bolognese sauce was well seasoned, but had an overpowered taste of carbon and and overwhelming acidity. It was as if the sauce had both been burnt on the bottom while also not cooking long enough to allow the tomatoes to mellow. Overall, it seemed to be more of a simple tomato sugo with meat added rather than a ragu.
The soup of the day was definitely the best part of the meal; a simple vegetable noodle soup that was well balanced and well flavored, albeit slightly too sweet.
The caesar salad lettuce was wilted, over sauced, with tiny croutons that were stale and chewy.
The tiramisu was not a traditional tiramisu, which is fine; though I do wish it were advertised as such. The strawberries added on the dish did not complement the dessert well as they were fairly bland for strawberries and were not crisp as would be expected of a fresh strawberry.
Overall, 2/5 for Salerno's. I may in the future try to visit the restaurant itself; but will be looking at other Italian restaurants in...
Read moreWe have been frequenting a local restaurant for years now, and it has become a go-to spot for all of my family's events and gatherings. I can confidently say that this restaurant has never let us down in terms of the quality of food and service.
The menu offers a variety of dishes to suit all tastes and dietary restrictions. From classic Italian pasta dishes to fresh seafood and steaks, there is something for everyone. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable, making it an affordable option for large groups.Tonight marks our 4th event we have had at Salernos. Aaron is always very friendly and helpful!
The standout dish for me is the pecan crusted chicken, which is always cooked to perfection. The chicken is tender and juicy, and the pecan crust is amazing. The Salernos salad is also a family fave, and perfectly complements any of the main courses.
In addition to the food, the service at this restaurant is top-notch. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, making sure that we have everything we need for our events. They are also great with kids, which is a huge plus for us as we often have little ones in tow.
Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a reliable spot to host family events or simply enjoy a great meal. The combination of delicious food and excellent service makes it a standout among local eateries, and I look forward to many more enjoyable experiences here in the future.
