China Wok — Restaurant in Hillsboro

I am always reticent about leaving negative feedback, but in this case it can't be avoided. I live locally. I had done a search online for Chinese food and it seemed like this place was popular and well regarded. After hurriedly placing my order and waiting at the restaurant I began to look around. I began to realize the place was by all accounts filthy. Scuzzy. The table tops were probably regularly swabbed off after use out of necessity, but I seriously doubt the surfaces of anything else, i.e. walls floors, chairs, etc.......had ever been actually cleaned and/or sanitized. Filmy and gooey are the best descriptors I can come up with. Just a really low-rent environment for what was supposed to be a family owned business. The window and the glass entry door were really a mess with more finger prints and goo than clean glass. I realize people have different interpretations of what 'clean' represents, but it was obvious that cleanliness was not high on anyone's list here. I eat at other establishments in the area that would be considered sparkling by any measure compared to this. I began to fear the lack of cleanliness and attention to detail might be reflected in food quality and preparation as well. Those misgivings prompted me to consider rescinding my order. I kicked myself a bit for being distracted and not looking around a bit better when I popped in. Then I thought I didn't want to look like a jerk either, so what the heck let it roll. I figured the folks were just trying to make a living like everybody else, so I ended up taking my order home. I made every effort to give the benefit of the doubt to the food, but it wasn't good at all. The chicken was clearly old and of very poor quality. I literally couldn't continue eating that for fear I'd get ill. There wasn't enough sauce to cover the taste of that. The rest of the Kung Pao was more celery and slimy sauce than anything else. I nibbled on most of the other items in the order, but I just couldn't do it. I threw in the towel. I wrapped everything back up and put it in the garbage. I couldn't get past the obvious lack of freshness and low quality nor the environment it was prepared in. I'm sorry, but people in the restaurant business should know better. Cleanliness and fresh quality ingredients aren't that tall of orders if you want customers. I read a bunch of the other reviews saying how good they thought it was. I must say I am a bit stunned anyone eats there. It's a bridge way...

Online service is terrible. We ordered from here once before and it seemed okay. Looking for an easy dinner tonight so ordered online from China Wok. I ordered online and opted to pay upon delivery. When the delivery arrived and the doorbell rang, my husband left the backyard to pay but the food had already been left with my 13 year old daughter and the driver left. As there was no receipt I was concerned as to if the payment source used on the last order had been billed; which was not what I wanted. While looking for the receipt noticed an eggroll was missing as well so called China Wok about the missing eggroll. They kindly offered to deliver the eggroll, and the owner actually delivered it. I took the opportunity to share my concerns with him to include my concern with how my meal was paid for as the food was left with my teen and we never presented a payment source to the driver. I told him I needed to ensure my previous payment source was not used as I selected pay upon delivery. He asked me to hold on while he made a call, I advised my family was eating and he needed to figure it out as I had invested enough time. He then came back to my door advising in fact his driver forgot to charge me and then requested payment. I refused to give him my card as I have no confidence in their capabilities and offered $20 cash final and advised I would never do business with them again. Such a shame as I wasn't to shop local but the experience was frustrating and the customer should not suffes for the incompetence...

Got the shrimp noodles for hubby they were so salty he could not eat it….🤮 and I got the broccoli beef and it had so many onions it was terrible!!! The beef was good! the rice was good but salty someone there likes too much salt man made us sick !!! the noodles were so salty and the onions were ridiculous and I paid $45 for the whole two meals they need to not use so much salt and onion I didn’t pay for A salty onion dinner if they would lighten up on their salt there and onions their food would be decent🤢🤮

Today is November 10th 2022 I decided to give them another try. I ordered the sesame chicken with fried rice and two. Spring rolls. The guy that took my order went back without washing his hands and put the spring rolls in the pan when there were other people back there cooking I don’t know why he did it then I proceeded to watch him cook the sesame chicken and put it in the little box to go and he puts his fingers all food and touches it without washing his hands that is totally disgusting after just touching a computer and money and then you want me to eat your food cost me $18 to totally disgusted and would not recommend this place to anyone. The food is good but the service quality is gross.😡😡 this is the very last time I will be eating here and I don’t recommend people eat here unless you want someone’s money Jeremy hands on your food🤢🤑 oh plus the spring rolls were not even...
