CM Banh Mi — Restaurant in Hillsboro

I've been a fan of Best Baguette in Beaverton for almost a decade...it's the go to place for awesome bahn mi. Unfortunately for me, it's a 20 minute drive from my home in Hillsboro. I've ordered once through a delivery service, but it's just not the same when it's not hot and fresh. Well I'm delighted to say that not only do I now have a worthy alternative just a few minutes away, but that it is in fact BETTER than my former favorite spot.

My virgin order was a grilled pork bahn mi. The veggies were fresh and crunchy, the lemongrass marinated pork was juicy and tender with just the right amount of sweetness to umami savory, and the baguette was soft and pillowy throughout with the thinnest, most delicate outside layer of crunch. Price is a bit more in comparison to Best Baguette, but it shows in the upgrade of precise execution and quality of ingredients.

They had quite a wide variety of different meals to choose from, an exhaustive list of milk teas, steamed buns turned into cute little animals, at a delicious looking selection of desserts. If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience, look no further! This place truly serves the BEST Bahn Mi I’ve ever had, and their traditional milk tea with boba is simply outstanding. Every sip is a delightful blend of flavors, and the boba is perfectly chewy—just the way I love it!

What really sets this establishment apart, though, is the incredible team behind it. The owners are some of the sweetest people you could ever meet. In addition to their amazing Bahn Mi and bubble tea, they offer an impressive variety of vegetarian and vegan options that are equally delicious. One of my favorite finds is the little fridge stocked with preserved carrots and cauliflower—perfect for a crunchy snack! They also have delightful red bean buns that are a must-try.

First time in to CM Banh Mi and I will definitely be back. The staff was super courteous and seem to be doing their part to keep the public safe during the pandemic, they are nearing a year in business and I like the decor and hope when things begin to return to normal they can reopen their storefront fully. While the location is fairly unassuming, the sea salt crema is good on the Vietnamese iced coffee, strongly recommend, as well as the thai tea. Boba is small and seemingly fresh. The house special bahn mi is a solid choice ( though I wish they gave a little more cilantro and pickled veg), and my wife ordered the wonton in chili oil, which were a little bit more sweet and vinegary than I like, but she enjoyed them. The triple threat brownie was amazing (tasted like toasted coconut and caramel) would be interested to see them expand to more than just the chicken pho as well, but understand it's not their bread and butter, and they are within a 2 block radius of other contenders in that space.
