#1 - You just sit wherever you want. Small seating area so when we came in with 6 people, only one location would fit us all. #2 - The one waiter was nice and I liked him. However, it was Sunday afternoon and he was overbooked. I had to ask for refills repeatedly and asked for a box I still have not received. I finally just got up and got silverware and napkins from an unoccupied nearby table after we did not ever get any with our meals. #3 - Food is fine. Bland and not very spicy, so that might be your thing. I was bringing 5 kids with me so I guess it was kind of my thing today. #4 - And here is the big issue - I used a Groupon at this business today. I showed it to the waiter at the beginning of the meal and also when I asked for my check. I am extremely familiar with how to use Groupons and things of that nature. MY check never came so I finally sent my children out to get into the car and stood up at the small counter by the cash register. The waiter comes and gives me the check and I hand him my phone and tell him, "I am redeeming this voucher". I then push the redeem button. Evidently this threw him completely off and he had no idea what to do. Evidently normally he scans the vouchers and it goes through that way. There is a "mark as redeemed" button right on the screen and when I am redeeming something, that is when I push that button. He had no idea what to do, finally called someone else over. A woman who was better able to communicate with me. She indicated that then they don't have any way to check when it has been redeemed. I indicated I had shown it to the waiter repeated times during my visit where it was NOT redeemed. She basically called me a liar and said "Why would you do that?!?!" in an extremely rude tone. I explained that it says to mark as redeemed when you are redeeming it and that was exactly what I was doing. I indicated if that was not what they wanted you to do, they should take that button off. She indicated that they had no control over that. I said then they should either be able to provide feedback to someone about how that was not helpful to them and was causing problems or there should be some way for them to check when a voucher was redeemed. She indicated that she thought that if it was a problem, maybe I shouldn't buy them anymore. "Why would following the instructions mean that I shouldn't buy them anymore?!?!?!" Her response was that if I was going to be cool about it, she would accept that possibly I had just redeemed my voucher but if not, then she wouldn't accept it. I told her fine and I still left a tip because I am not blaming the waiter for the extremely rude conduct on behalf of this woman and because I did bring 5 kids into a restaurant and only really rude people don't leave a tip after that! BUT I am steaming mad and intend to blast this all over the internets because I do NOT like being...
Read moreThese reviews have to be fake. This place was rundown and nasty. Dont get me wrong...i'm no princess...i was raised in a poor mexican family but at least we were clean. The first time we went the food was ok but not 100% authentic...you can tell they use a lot of canned sauces and prepackaged food. Anyone posting a review on this place that says "its authentic" did not grow up in a traditional 1st generation mexican family.
The 2nd time i went was today (3-28-16 @ 3:20pm). The waiter (older short fat mexican guy with dark hair) was a jerk. Im Hispanic so I spoke to him in Spanish and I asked him if we could sit in the patio...he abruptly said no. I then asked him if it was happy hour, he said yes but that if we sat in the patio he wasnt going to serve us there..i guess swinging the door open was too much to ask. He seemed moody so we decided to leave. As we left, we saw him blowing his nose and then grabbing chips with his bare hands and seving other customers. Freaken nasty!!! We went to Mazatlan on 185th instead. Which by the way, is not authentic either but at least they were clean...
Read moreWe went to try Peppers based on the great reviews. I was horribly disappointed. First if all, I will say the staff was friendly!
The chips were cold and clearly from a bag. The salsa was okay but nothing special. We ordered queso, which took forever to get even though they weren't busy. Once we got it, the sauce had a gritty texture.
Our food took an incredibly long time to get especially since they weren't busy at all. I got the chicken tacos, the chicken in them was great but the tortillas were not homemade but something I could pick up at the grocery store. The refried beans seemed like they'd been sitting awhile like maybe my tacos were done before the other meal we ordered. My husband said the chicken taquitos were really good and he enjoyed the rice and the guacamole was really good.
Over all, it wasnt the worst Mexican restaurant I've been to but certainly didn't live up to all of the rave reviews. Make some homemade chips and tortillas and they have this in the bag but as is the service is too slow and the food too mediocre to justify the prices...
