Brother Shucker's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Hilton Head Island

We went to Brothers shuckers 9/26 Thursday. We were extremely excited to get the raw oysters as we’ve been seeing posts all week on our travels to hilton head. We are unable to remember our waitresses name, but she had a semi thick accent (sorry.) We had ordered the happy hour oysters and from the second they hit our table they smelled a little off, Yes I understand it’s raw but they did not smell like raw oysters should smell. Against our better judgement we both tried one and honestly tasted foul, i couldn’t even get it down nor my girlfriend. When our waitress asked if we were done we both said yes and she responded with a stern “no.” I attempted to explain how they did not taste right and we would just like them removed from the table, and the response was “ well sir we get our shipment of oysters fresh every morning” Sure I understand that my statement had nothing to do with the shipment. The most ridiculous thing was after a couple minutes go by the waitress comes back up says i’m going to take 50% off your bill. HOWEVER MAYBE IF YOU DID NOT GET THE HAPPY HOUR OYSTERS THEY WOULD HAVE TASTED BETTER. What does that say to people who had a sub par experience eating something they love? We get served BAD oysters only during happy hour????. Thankfully we did not get sick from eating bad oysters, seeing that they tasted and smelled foul, along with picking up the shell and barely being chilled. I had a thoroughly disappointing experience at Brother Shuckers. Here's a rundown of the issues: Eat a Peach Drink: This was made improperly with obvious amounts of nutmeg, which isn't mentioned on the menu. The drink tasted awful. Waitress's Lack of Knowledge: The waitress didn't know what the Chef's Special "Butcher Cut" at market price steak was. When we asked, she simply said "it's steak." We had to find it ourselves on a second specials menu and show her it was a Kansas City Strip. She also left us for large periods of time and we saw her at the front just staring at her phone. Steak Cooked Incorrectly: I ordered the steak medium, but it came out completely well done with no pink at all. Overcooked Baked Potato: The baked potato was so overcooked that I couldn't cut it with a steak knife. Pork Belly and Bone Marrow Appetizer: This was also overcooked to the point that the ends of the marrow were dehydrated, charred, and stuck to the bone. We lost 25% of the marrow, and the sauce overpowered the marrow itself. The pork belly looked like jerky or dry bacon. Coconut Shrimp - Although the flavor of the sauce was good. The shrimp was obviously not fresh and frozen prior. Reminds me of something you get at a Chinese buffet.

The WORST experience ever ! My server was Sheri B. I ordered the Shuckers Roll and was not a big fan of the flavoring, so I politely asked the waitress for the menu so I can order something different (never asked for a discount). After looking at the menu for a few minutes the waitress proceeded to come over to me and ask what was wrong with the meal so she can explain to her boss. I politely stated that the flavoring was a tad bit off to me and I wasn’t a huge fan of it. The manager then came out and expressed to me that no one has ever had that kind of complaint about their food before as if I insulted them with hateful words. After expressing to him that I meant no disrespect he proceeded to say “I can only do half off” (again I never asked for a full refund). I told him it was okay because I wanted no trouble however I could sense the hostility from the staff so we just asked for the check. Upon receiving the check we were charged a state tax, liquor tax, total tax, and hospitality tax totaling at $80 for 2 meals (one of which we did not eat) cheese fries a margarita and a shot of tequila. We may be out of towners (Ga) but I’ve never heard of a total tax before. Once the signed receipt was given back to the waitress she proceeded to say “oh so I do t receive a tip now?
