Excellent Chinese cuisine conveniently located about half way down the island for easy access from both the north and south ends of the island. The food quality is unparalleled with the use of fresh ingredients.
My favorite chicken and broccoli dish features crisp bright broccoli not yellowed by age or softness from being overcooked, coupled with large slices of tender, moist chicken, rather than the scraps of sinewy morsels at many other restaurants. The sauce generously coats the entire dish without drowning it and exemplifies rich deep flavors with simple ingredients highlighting the abundant garlic that dresses every individual piece within the dish.
The house fried rice captures the fine balance of being moist without too much oil and melds the various protein flavors of the shrimp, beef, and chicken into a harmonious bite.
A dish as basic as the egg drop soup is made to perfection, achieving a texture that balances the thickness of liquid egg without being overly gelatinous as well as having a generous (not watered-down) amount of actual egg in it.
The staff is super friendly and reminds me of the 80's TV sitcom, Cheers, where "everybody knows your name" (and in this case, literally, if you are a repeat customer). The atmosphere is very versatile - cozy enough for a family outing, casual enough for a quick bite to eat, and elevated enough for a date night.

Read moreWe ordered out from the Hilton Head E-Tang last night and we were excited to try this place since it is right outside of Palmetto Dunes where we live.
To begin, this place is a chain restaurant and I realized this when only 1 of the 11 reviews come from the Hilton Head location. ?? All the other reviews have come from GA, IL, NJ, FL, etc , so there is only one review, except for this one from me, from HH.
This is important to know if you are looking for really an authentic place.
We ordered steamed dumplings (2), General Tso's chicken (2). 1 Mongolian beef and 1 beef lomein,, To begin with, the dumplings with skinny and small, not plump and full like we are used to and the flavor of these was extremely bland and dry tasting. For 6 dumplings, they give you probably 1 1/2 tablespoons of dipping sauce at the most. The General's chicken was very disappointing with a really weird taste to it which we couldn't really put our finger on and dry and nobody enjoyed it. My Lomein was just ok and our friends Mongolian beef was below par in his opinion plus the portions were noticably smaller than what we receive from our regular go to place So overall, quite disatisfied all around and we will not be returning.
We will go back to our favorite of 12 years, Asian Bistro, which...
Read moreWe ate a meal at E-Tang Okatie a month ago that was above average and decided to give this location a try as it was closer to our home. The experience could not have been more different. It is less pleasant as it feels older and uninviting.
We ordered the Cashew Shrimp which was below average. The sauce was too thick and bland although the food was well prepared.
The Orange Chicken was dry with a thick unpalatable sauce with the orange peel added. Not a dish I would order again.
The Mongolian Beef with fried rice consisted of 90% onions and very little beef. When we addressed the matter with the server and hostess, the reply was that this is the way they present it. No effort was made to even rectify the situation. $22.95 for a plate of onions is a a bit rich and to boot, it lacked flavor.
The Pepper Steak with Lo Mein was the best of the four dishes and if I were ever to return, which is pretty unlikely, I would order this. As a side note, the dish had too too many red and green peppers in it.
As a rating it would get a two and a half at best but I will not be spending my hard earned...
