After reading the reviews, I’m actually surprised at how unpleasant our experience at the Plantation Cafe was. We went in for a quick meal (nothing was quick about this) on a Thursday at 11:20. Sat down, ordered drinks, an appetizer, two sandwiches (French dip for me and plantation for hubs), and lunch for our 1.5 year old daughter. Appetizer comes out, we have to ask for silverware, and we get mostly through it before they tell us they don’t have the ingredients to make my sandwich. Which is completely understandable, except we ordered over 20 minutes ago. So I’m trying to quickly pick something so we can eat while someone is giving me excuses about why they don’t have the ingredients, and I don’t care just next time make your staff aware. They bring out our daughters food and it’s mostly cold but she’s 1.5 so she doesn’t mind. Then they bring out our sandwiches and like I said, my husband ordered the Plantation and honestly it’s tiny. If you’re going to name a sandwich “plantation”, it’s going to be assumed that it’s bigger than a tea sandwich. It was dainty. A plantation is 500+ acres. See why this is confusing? Our sandwiches were just ok. We had to ask for everything we would typically need for the things we ordered (silverware, honey mustard for chicken tenders, refills when our cups were empty, ketchup for fries). Oh and we stayed at this restaurant an hour and a half. We were actually going to go back for breakfast another day of our vacation, but honestly I don’t want to spend another hour and a half at a place that would normally take us less than an hour to eat at. And that’s at full capacity. They...

We were looking for a good breakfast this morning, and we found it at Plantation Cafe & Deli 😍

The first thing that impressed us was the service. They were very solicitous and gracious, and the owner visited us several times!

The pride they take in their food came to the fore in the obvious freshness of the ingredients. The delicate snap of perfectly cooked green pepper and onion in the Creole Skillet, the smoky richness of the Andouille sausage, the juicy, flavor packed bites of fresh fruit. 🤤

The gluten free pancake was perfectly cooked, with a flour that allowed for a delicate consistency, no graininess, no doughy texture, and no heavyweight mouthfeel! 👌🏼

The star of the show, though, was the Crab Cake Benedict. These generously sized crab cakes embody the same fresh philosophy, with a perfect balance of substrate, veggie, seasoning, and light, succulent, huge chunks of delicious crab meat.

Two of these masterpieces are presented on a lightly grilled English muffin laid open, and capped with perfectly poached medium eggs, and topped with and excellent house hollandaise.

The result took me straight to flavortown. 😍

We’re so glad we stopped here, and we can’t...

So many reasons...

Menu says egg sandwich on a kaiser roll. It came on a Sysco hamburger bun. When I asked the waitress about it, she said, "...yeah. I don't know why the menu says that." She did offer to bring me some other type of bread. Not sure how that would have worked.

The sandwich was thrown together. Three strips of bacon all in one stack, just thrown in there lazily.

I asked for butter on my sandwich. They gave me butter packets that I had to spread myself. This was a to-go order, so I had to sit there at the counter and complete the sandwich before I could eat it. I just ate there.

They ran out of coffee on my cup. 9:30am. She asked me to wait for a new pot. I said that I would take what was there and wait for the rest. Again, this was a to-go order.

Sounds from the TV and the music system were basically fighting it out, so nothing sounded good, and both were too low.

Almost every worker in there had an unenthusiastic look, as if they'd much rather be somewhere else. Horrible impression.

I almost never write reviews, but this experience was such that I felt compelled.

My advice would...

Day three of our South Carolina adventure and before we hit the waves and sew what Hurricane Elsa left, it was time to feed the monkies. The first meal of the day has to be breakfast so this location surfaced online and we took off with the two year old leading the way yelling "GO GO." We arrived and as we've noticed many places are located inside strip malls. As you enter, you will be seated and it's mainly table and chair set up which is difficult for a family of 5. Our server saw the issue and moved us to a bigger table set up. The monkies order Belgian waffle, croissant, egg for Cashew. Mother of Cashew had two egg meal and I had the Ranchers breakfast with side of pancakes. The service was positive, not like our dinner later that day, and quick. The waffle was golden and big. The croissant was above average size. The two egg meal was well cooked with a great tasting golden hashbrowns. The Ranchers also had a great taste and over easy eggs perfect. I'm not gonna lie in today's climate, the name kind of made me hesitant but the service, food, and price $54 makes it a must stop in the area. Our son Cashew requests, you like and share this review.

Palatable but no more than that. Not the cleanest not that tasty, slow service, check out the fresh fruit plate, that will give you an idea - when they asked if I wanted a box for the fresh fruit I couldn’t hold back and said: “look at that fruit, who would eat that? Waitress responded with: yeah that’s some monster looking fruit. Nice! When you are on vacation and willing to spend money for a pleasant dining experience, this place just makes you feel glad to have lived through the experience. I do have to say that the same restaurant on Pope is much much worse and is straight up disgusting. It feels like the owner is a Complete slob or lives outside the country and only visits one of their locations.

Typical cafe style restaurant located in strip mall area. Lots of seating but tables are fairly close together. Service was good and fast not particularly friendly but efficient. Food was mediocre. My Omelet was done on the outside but somewhat wet inside. Lots of filling of peppers, onions and ham but did not hold well to the eggs. Hashbrowns were standard, fairly bland. Hubby had two eggs over easy however he could not finish because the eggs were a little too "easy" to the point of egg whites almost raw. He rarely doesn't finish a meal. Bacon and sausage were fine, hashbrowns standard. Overall a decent place but not sure we will be back with so many choices in the area.
