I’m a big KBBQ fan (had it in Korea and around the world) and this place misses the mark. The menu online is different than the menu offered in the store. No beef tongue, no shrimp with head on, etc. cumin chicken.. way too much cumin. limited menu vs what is advertised online. The service is lack luster at best, and there was only one other table when I was there.. I can only imagine how bad it could be when it’s packed. (You order from a tablet, no dedicated server for your table and it was difficult to gain attention of employees in the restaurant) The bogulgi was average, the only thing worth it on the menu was the short rib, but served frozen. Booth was situated too close to the grill and had to move it back a foot to be able to sit comfortably (I’m a small guy) And to top it off, a 5$ bottle of soju is priced at 18.95 per bottle ! You have to ask for the side dishes or serve yourself from the bar… should already be served to you instead of help yourself. If this is your first KBBQ experience, I’m sorry.
The goods: veggie options / side dishes / sauces are quality (whole lettuce leaves if you ask) along with free selection of ice cream at the end.
Overall I’m disappointed in my experience, this place seems to me a tourist trap and not a true KBBQ experience. Doesn’t try or care to stand out. Probably because it’s the only KBBQ on the island and tourists are going to eat there anyway. 20$ of Soju is just ridiculous. Unfortunately won’t be going back until there’s a change in dining experience and...
Read moreFirst thing upon being seated we explained very clearly that we had never been to Korean BBQ before and wanted to understand how to order, etc. The server briefly explained the process then suggested we place a big order to try everything and see what you like, then order more. I asked if the portions were more trial size compared to full meal (in order to make sense of placing a big order. I was told yes. After it was obvious too much food was brought to us, the same serve warned us that we would be charged for excess ordering if we left any uneaten food behind. I politely reminded the server of the earlier conversation and that she told us to place a big order. She walked away without a word. Later the server returned to begin clearing plates and took a plate of uncooked beef, which I’m certain I watched be delivered directly to another table. Finally when the bill comes I was charged a “subcharge” and inquired as to why. The server attempted to make me believe I should be thankful I was only charge the “smaller” subcharge because it was explained to the manager that we were inexperienced and made an honest ordering mistake. I made my displeasure for this business model very clear and am warning others of this business and their practice.
Additionally, the beef bulgogi was only decent but everything else was mediocre at best. Do not waste your time or money...
Read moreWe have been waiting for weeks for this place to open. Went there with my wife, daughter and her husband.
The first impression was a well laid out, clean restaurant but beyond this it disappointed at every level. The choice is either a hot pot or BBQ style meal. The challenge is that everyone at the table must choose the same option. We chose the BBQ menu.
A number of the items on the menu are not available which in itself is not a good image especially for a new restaurant wanting to make its mark.
The selection of meats is good, the fish limited and the vegetables even more limited especially as many of them are not available. The quality and cut of the meats however are poor lending to a tough final product no matter how you cook it. The beef ribs arrived still frozen.
The sides which are available to the one side of the restaurant are not replenished frequently so the portions are limited. The fries were overcooked and the chicken wings dry. Even the salad bar lacked variety.
The final bill including the tip was $160 for four people. An absolute waste of money and we will...
