Okko has a nice atmosphere inside the restaurant which is the only redeeming factor of our second time there. The bar is a decent size and the bartenders are prompt to respond to customers. We were seated 30ish minutes after our reservation, no problem, but our waitress took another 15ish to come to our table and give us menus and another 15ish to take our drink orders. Still, no problem, it is what it is. We receive our drinks and then sushi appetizers pretty prompt thereafter and the sushi was good, not great, but good enough to recommend to others. The dinner orders are taken about 15ish-20ish minutes after this and we didn't get to order another set of drinks until dinner came out.
The dinner was abysmal. 3 Hibachi dishes were so cold that we asked if they keep the chicken and steak in the refrigerator. Being that we were hungry, we just said please nuke our $30 meals so they are at least warm. They did and they must have dropped the vegetables on the way back to the table because all three lost their veggies and had the meat of choice + rice only. Whatever. Just brush it off. Two of the three are still cold after being nuked. Whatever. Just eat it. The three other dishes arrive for our other guests; sushi was good for the one, Mongolian chicken was decent but the Pad Thai (which was asked to be extra spicy) was INEDIBLE. It was (and I hate saying this) disgusting. We had literally one bite out of it and told them we didn't want it. Pad Thai is my (and one of my other guests) favorite Thai meals and when I say it was borderline dog food, I am being nice. It tasted as if someone took overcooked noodles and dipped it in orange chicken sauce. The texture/flavor was revolting. Sorry, but it was. They were kind enough to knock the meal off the bill and take it back, but said guest did not have any dinner.
We have no idea what the waitresses name was as she never introduced herself and only came by a handful of times. I can't see myself returning to this establishment as it was by -far- the worst $300 meal I have ever had. I am giving it two stars as the bartenders were nice and it was a pleasant environment. Extremely...
Read moreCUSTOMER SERVICE WAS GARBAGE!!!! Kate had an attitude from the beginning of the phone call. In fact, she hung up on me while I was placing my order. When I called back and stated that she hung up on me, she replied "Mmhmm!" Red flag 🚩 but I proceeded and finished placing my order. We get there and the attitude continues. Kate is mad because we want to check the order. She says that she has already checked it and sarcastically added "but you don't trust me!" and rudely slung the bag of food on the table. However, there was a problem with the order which we couldn't resolve due to her VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Other customers came in who appeared to be regulars and she laughed and treated them as all customers should be treated. As I told Kate, my money is just as green and my card swipes the same. Maybe she doesn't like tourists, I don't know. What I do know is that her attitude needs to change. I asked for a supervisor, she insisted that no manager or supervisor was there. So I asked to speak to another employee (since they are all "equal" and have the same authority) with customer service skills. She told me that I could cancel the transaction BUT then she ignored us and refused to void it. Thankfully, another employee stepped in and voided the transaction. He also gave me a phone number to reach the owner. I have left a message and I am definitely expecting a call back to discuss this VERY UNPLEASANT experience. Kate's attitude and treatment was callous and inhumane.
REGRETFULLY I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT TO ANYONE!!!! AWFUL!!! RUINED THE REST...
Read moreIf I could give less than one star, I would. I went into this establishment with the highest of hopes but, unfortunately, was met with poor customer service, lackluster food and food quality, and overall left feeling as if I was treated less than human. Food portions are small and prepared incorrectly (based on if you've ever been to any other authentic hibachi restaurant). When questioned about the preparation, our chef flat out decided to no longer do a good job and stopped "entertaining" us as he did before. Afterwards, I noticed our chef not-so-discretely discussing us to our server. Immediately after that our server brought us our check and to-go bowls (more or less putting us out). While reviewing the check I noticed they automatically charged 20% gratuity for a party of TWO (unheard of). I went to the front to question the gratuity charge and was chased down by the waiter as if I was trying to "dine-and-dodge". The front clerk and the waiter explained that 20% gratuity is charged on ALL hibachi tabs, which isn't advertised ANYWHERE. We live and we learn. I paid the tab and left but figured I would do my part and forewarn others that you can definitely do better when it comes to dining in Hilton Head. Spend your money at establishments that appreciate your dollar and you as a customer versus places that try to capitalize on hotel resort location as a means to provide less than professional customer service and...
