Maybe because the plethora of various Asian Restaurants, where I live, has spoiled my taste buds… or the many places I’ve sample on my journeys in the 48 states?
My visit to this restaurant leaves me with no desire to return here. I’m not knocking the owners, as they are doing what they need to do and their restaurant is something necessary for the community, but the Kung Pao Chicken meal was forgettable.
I felt like I was eating cheap prepackaged wholesale bulk food items from U.S. Foods or Sysco. The brown rice was disgusting and the Kung Pao Chicken has to be tolerated. It would have gone in the trash but I couldn’t toss $15 bucks away being back in my hotel room. The egg roll was a microwave disaster and egg drop soup should have been dropped in the trash too. I didn’t finish my meal at all.
That’s just my unique experience. I visited the place earlier in the day during lunch and checked out the menu. While I was looking around I had an opportunity to talk ti some locals and also a few people staying in town due to local long term projects. None of them seemed to offer any feedback that made me feel like they were happy to be eating there. I was told about other places to eat nearby and in nearby Winslow.
All of the above to say - your experience may be better than mine and that it’s always a great idea to spend your money with local establishments and not the corporate/franchise restaurants.
The service here was excellent and I hope the owners find improvements and continued success...
Read moreAlright, so multiple visits and different. 3 buffets, 3 orders from menu.
The cons: pathetic egg rolls, and hot and sour soup is very lacking. The buffet is kinda expensive for offerings. But not too bad on that. Still giving 5 stars taking in rest of food. Also, not very appealing in atmosphere. But would rather it be spent on food quality 🤔 so even though i rank it low, like...not formal gathering place at all. I don't believe a formal party would say, hey...let's go for a buffet.
The pros: ordering off the menus I have had great flavor and textured food. I did have an issue with front desk when ordering online. He was so use to people ordering in store. My words of "I may be early for online" and, "My online order didn't register?" Or, " That's not the # of my order." Kept wanting to say well the food item you are asking for is this. But it was worked out and got a great order.
I do recommend making sure if ordering online that you stress online until normal routine wakes up.
The orange chicken is officially better than show low's china wok. (Gave both three attempts at same order, and 2/3 went Holbrook China Buffet.
Just not equal on buffet yet. I am super happy with menu and will...
Read moreIf you are familiar with China Buffet or New China Buffet in SW United States, you come to expect a large selection of items. First off, this had 3 eight foot bars--deserts, meats and other.
The Pork Ribs seemed to dissolve into a chewy unrecognizable mass. I couldn't finish one of them. I am a BIG fan of Orange Chicken, Sesame Chicken and General Tsos chicken all of which have a sauce that is based on ORANGES, from OJ to Orange Zest... But all the chicken was terrible. So I grabbed couple oranges of the deserts bar... The oranges themselves were colorless and flavorless.... Maybe I had a bad day coming here for a meal... But based on the so so service, I imagine this is the day to day happenings. It was near closing and the guy started sweeping trash our way, the dust was floating up.... Air, we are trying to eat!
Long story short, we decided to do the opposite of our instincts and left them a $20 tip.... That, all 4 employees thanked us for.
Food along the...
