Romo's offers a delicious selection of American and Mexican fare. I enjoyed the Mexican country-fried steak (something I've never even heard of before) with green and red chili sauce on top, served with a side of rice and beans and a homemade warm tortilla. The tortilla was so sweet and thick, almost like a pancake. It was more than I could stomach, I was stuffed- especially after enjoying the chips and salsa. Though the salsa was spicier than most I've tried in restaurants, it slows the pace of eating the chips, saving room for the meal. My date ordered the chicken chimichanga and said it's the best he's ever had. Expect to wait- servers and signs on the wall explain there is always a wait because everything is made fresh and in-house. It is definitely worth the wait. Brittany served our dinner and was friendly and made great recommendations. We came here after our visit to Petrified Forest NP on our way back to our hotel. When looking for parking, we noticed a Christmas celebration going on in the town square, directly across from Romo's. So we enjoyed that first and walked across the street for dinner. That helped make our visit feel less tourist-y and more like a regular dining in.

They took me in an hour after closing. After traveling from White Sands New Mexico I was like a homeless pup looking for a good meal. Its not a fancy place but it felt warm, cozy and humble. I can tell this was a family oriented local place as I heard the staff call out customers by their name. I ordered the red sauce chilli enchiladas and in it came out at a good timing. I saw it coming from a distance ... rich in color, sizzling and sprinkling droplets of flavors into the air. As it made its way to my table it's hard to miss that delicious red sea of sauce and baked cheese on top. The tortillas some how keep their bind, the meat flavorful and to top it off a crispy layer of rice makes it to my plate. This is by far of the best late night meals I've ever had. I thank the wonderful and amazingly beautiful waitress (or maybe could have been the owner) that took me in. She made my night.

We initially had just some chips and salsa. The chip ball was overflowing, and the salsa is very unique, somewhat spicy, came in a large bowl. We ordered this chimichanga to split it, the shredded beef was tender and moist. My girlfriend had a pear margarita and said that it tasted good. I can definitely say a similar meal in California, with a couple beers at the margarita, would easily be 60+ dollars. We were out the door for $41, including 18% tip. We went here on a recommendation from a ranger roll visiting the Petrified Forest. I'll normally say, yeah good place to go. So when I say highly recommended, I mean most definitely way above average. Pic says it all 😄. Two of us, yes, but she only had like a third of the chimichanga. And we are totally stuffed.

Worst "authentic New Mexican"/Mexican food I've ever tasted. Spare me of your poor excuses of how understaffed you are. We're three yrs post pandemic, and I've received better food and customer service from the taco bell down the street, which is saying A LOT. And YOU (the owners) might think highly of YOUR food but when you're in the service industry for as long as you say youve been, then you should know its not about what YOU think, its about the people who pay to eat your food. I seriously doubt the legitimacy of all your raving reviews. I don't see how. And after reading your extremely UNPROFESSIONAL replies to the poor reviews tells me everything I need to know about your well established business. Its disgraceful. That's not at all how any business worth their weight in gold conducs business. I've worked the service industry for ober 15y and you guys are a joke! Yes its clear you think so highly of yourselves, but honestly I don't see where your over inflated egos come from. I grew up on Mexican food, had the best of New Mexican food, its almost embarrassing to see you call yourselves either of the two. Laughable. I couldn't even finish my food, it was so bland and the "salsa" was like canned tomato sauce 😅. I had to go down the street to Alibertos and guess what!! Their food was better! Seriously? I wish I had read the reviews before I tried the place.

I look forward to your unprofessional responses with your poor excuses. When someone can get better food and customer service at a TACO BELL you need to reevaluate your whole operation. Mexican food my 🍑 🤣 I don't care if you don't care that I won't be back again, I see you like to comment that, so save yourself the embarrassment. Its clear you don't care about the customers at all. In food or service. Thank you for making that abundantly clear. I implore to future customers who want to get an honest review, read through ALL the comments. And take note at how unprofessional and uncaring they are towards their customers. Any business that's going to act like that should...

I don’t normally leave reviews even if I have a bad experience, but this was a bit ridiculous. Passing through from Dallas heading to Phoenix and saw decent reviews. Stopped in. It wasn’t too busy and there was a few empty tables, but every single one was covered in dirty dishes and food. We stood waiting for about 15 minutes before being approached and asked if they could help us. We told them of the dirty tables and they cleared one and only one before continuing to stand behind the counter. We waited almost ten minutes before our drink orders were taken. Once we received our stale chips, water, and tea the waitress walked off without asking if we were ready (we were). Again we waited fifteen-twenty minutes before deciding to flag down a waitress to order. We got their combination plate to share. Took almost thirty minutes to receive our food and it looked like a mess. The rice was so over cooked you couldn’t identify any grains of rice. It was extremely over seasoned mush that I couldn’t swallow. The beans were very watery, enchiladas weren’t horrible, as well as the taco. Also a side note, THEY DONT HAVE QUESO. What mexican restaurant doesn’t have queso? All together just an unpleasant experience. The restaurant it self had an order we couldn’t identify, the waitresses had an attitude that was blatantly obvious, and the wait times were a bit ridiculous. Took an hour to get our food and not even half the tables were filled. I’m not one to leave bad reviews if I see the restaurant is struggling, but this just seems like a lack of effort in general. 0/5 absolutely will...

Officialy my worst Mexican restaurant experience. My husband travel all over the US for work and eat out daily. Service wasn't bad (at first) they were nice. First the chips and salsa came, salsa tasted like pizza sauce literally. Then our food came... we both ordered enchilda dinners, mine cheese and his beef. We both took ONE bite of the rice, it was like dog food. Then we both took literally ONE bite of enchilad and it was so nasty we spat it back onto the plates. We immediately went to the front to let them know it was disgusting. The female waitress was calm, the others started getting loud and mouthy, although my husband and I both were calm and not rude at all. Female waitressed said she would call owner. Then all of a sudden the cops showed up. From the waitress' own mouth, they had this issue quiet often!! The cop said either pay or recieve a ticket and go to court. Well we obviously arent going to court because we live out of the state. So needless to say we paid $30 and literally did not eat. We had no issue paying for the drinks and chips, but staff and owner would not make any of it right. So the plates were left completely full, we paid, then left. Went right down the road to Mr Maestas and recieved amazing service and...
