I had heard legends about the famed Utah garlic burger, and heard that the Cotton Bottom Inn is THE place to try them. I was almost turned away for the $18 price tag on a double, but am glad I gave it a shot. The menu is simple. The burgers come with chips or have an upcharge for fries. I should have stuck with chips, as the $3 upcharge was not worth it for the relatively small fry portion. Thankfully, the double garlic cheeseburger was huge and awesome. Literally about 3x bigger than a normal cheeseburger. It's served on half a loaf of french bread. It tasted delicious, and not as overpowering of garlic as I had feared. The restaurant is a total dive, though nicer if you sit outside. They don't have a ton of seating and were double sitting parties together at picnic tables-not a fan of that at all. Service was poor. Our waitress was rude. You get your own water and boxes, which she did not even mention. I asked for cheese on my fries (reasonable, I'd think, for the large upcharge) and was told they didn't do that. I thought she was kidding, but she clarified the cheese "wouldn't melt" unless I got chili cheese fries. All around poor service and very dismissive. The burger is still worth it, but maybe get it to go!

If you're in Holladay, Utah, and craving a laid-back spot with a killer burger, The Cotton Bottom is where you need to be. This place has a classic, old-school vibe that makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the garlic burger. Seriously, it's a game-changer. Juicy, flavorful, and loaded with garlic goodness, it's a must-order. Pair it with their perfectly crispy fries, and you're in for a real treat. The Cotton Bottom isn't just about the food, though. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with friendly staff who make sure you're well taken care of. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a longer hangout with friends, it’s the perfect spot. Drinks? They've got you covered with a solid selection of beers and other beverages to complement your meal. In short, if you haven't experienced the garlic burger at The Cotton Bottom yet, put it at the top of your list. It's the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again.

Having grown up in the state, I've heard for years about the infamous garlic burger served at the Cotton Bottom. I recently had one for the first time and I was not disappointed. I thought it was good and I didn't think there was an overwhelming garlic taste which was nice. The burger doesn't come on a traditional bun which was a nice change as well. The fries were very good. Very crispy and tasty. When the food came out, I thought I easily could have done another burger but I'm glad I didn't. The servings are more generous than I first thought. The atmosphere is nice. In the summer (or while it's hot outside), there is a patio with loads of tables and shade. They allow dogs and I learned children can be outside on the patio with you (which is very progressive for Utah). Our service was good. I felt the pricing was a little steep. Seemed like a pitcher of beer and two garlic burgers cost around $60. I'd definitely return to the Cotton Bottom.

Don't go here. Don't bring your kids here if you value their safety. Keep reading.

Not bad but really mediocre with a higher price tag attached. An easy one to skip honestly. It's like a greasy bar burger / burger drive thru but way more expensive 🫰 Would rate 2.5/5 stars but had a terrible experience.

The food: it's your average garlic burger 🍔 on store bought bread with frozen potatoes as unseasoned fries or lays potato chips on the side (not exaggerating - that's what it is). Not really much more different than something you'd find for less at Red Robin or Chili's. Very uninspired. Completely unoriginal. Undeseasoned and overcooked. What you pay and what you get doesn't make any sense.

🌭 The hot dogs were so basic. Average beef frank split and grilled. But you get to pay $7+ for the privilege.

🥗 House salad was overdressed and weirdly sweet. The Greek "salad" was a pile of hugely chopped tomatoes with feta and 2 Klamath olives.

The service is really a miss. Get your own drinks. Ask for your own things. Good luck with napkins. and help yourself to greasy empty condiment bottles if you can find them. You will be crowded by their inability to bus tables too.

My Safety concern: they allow dogs. A dog attacked my eldest kid and made him bleed. The owner and staff did nothing to make the situation right or for us to feel safe. They did absolutely nothing but ask if we were okay. Had to spend the rest of my dining experience near the terrible dog owners. So I can't recommend this place to anyone really.

Also Lazz, if my kid just got bit by a dog in your establishment, I don't want to spend the rest of my meal with you hovering over me talking about dogs. what was that?

Really mediocre food took half it home. My chickens liked some of it. So I guess that tells you why it's an easier place to skip from someone who reviews a lot...

Okay boys and girls, I have been trying to get to this spot for the last 2 years. Every time, it has happened to be closed. Well, well, well..... not tonight. My first time walking in, the atmosphere, clean. I was greeted with wonderful smells that just made me excited to see their menu. Obviously, I go for a pint. My choice, the Hefeweizen that’s on tap. Do you know how rare it is to have an establishment serve me a lemon wedge with my hefe?! It is a basic extra step most busy places just skip over or forget. Not the cotton bottom inn. I was able to squeeze that baby right in for a well deserved after work, pre dinner beer. Cheers to them on that. But wait.... then I ordered dinner. The menu seemed small, but sometimes that’s the best for quality food. 2 meals were picked; the BLT, and the impossible burger. When asked if I wanted to add cheese, or if I wanted to make my burger “garlic style”, I had a giggle because... duh. The BLT was a classic. Another star to the cotton bottom inn for obviously adding fresh ground pepper on the insides of my BLT. We aren’t just talking 2-3 cranks here kids. The chefs took the time to do that sammie justice with an obvious 14 (ish) grinding! In NO WAY was it too much or too little... It was the perfect fresh pepper to sandwich ratio. THEN the garlic style impossible burger with cheese... the bun was no ordinary bun. It was a perfect bread pairing. Fresh and such a wonderful texture. One of the BEST veggie burgers I have had locally. When asked if you want it garlic style the follow up is, “is there any other way?”. Well done guys. This was such a great eating experience because the food was TOP notch. Service was great. Facilities were CLEAN, bathrooms and all. Good for you guys, and I’m proud to have you be a local spot I can continue...

I had one of the more stunning, and candidly saddening experiences I've ever had at this restaurant. Our server was short tempered and short of patience, condescending, and anything but welcoming. Fine. I've had those before. But this one was already a little more memorable than most. We had to send a burger back which was not what we ordered. The server opened the burger to inspect, point out that we were wrong and it was the "plain burger" we ordered, but no, the plain burger did arrive and was being eaten by a member of our party. So she rolled her eyes, without admitting it was wrong and which time we requested for them to just remove it from our check as we had enough food. Incredibly rude, but I've had those servers before. It gets better. The host comes and asks if they can seat a party at the end of our table which was slightly strange - we were a party of 4 and the table was pretty full, but ok. My uncle who is wildly cautious of going out due to the Covid pandemic asked if they were "positive that you want to sit somebody here"? A few minutes later a masked (she hadn't been masked until then) manager comes to accuse my uncle that we joked about "being Covid positive". Insulting and just not true. She didn't respectfully inquire...she accused. Then said she was bringing our bill and we needed to leave. Stunning behavior. We moved to the area within the last year. Hadn't been here before and were truly looking forward to it. Suffice it to say, we won't return, and we will spread our experience amongst our co-workers, neighbors, friends, etc.....Just unfriendly, entitled and wildly disrespectful behavior. Not exactly the friendly neighborhood place we had hoped to find. So much for enjoying a place just two miles...
