Let me start out by saying that I married in to a Laotian family and I know what real Lao food is supposed to taste like. You can too when you visit Rock ‘n Thai. I ordered their world-famous khao poun and some chicken larb. Everything came out perfectly and was oh-so-authentic. They do make it rather on the mild side, so don’t expect it to have much spice, which is absolutely perfect for the average American trying Lao food for the first time. The khao poun is made with a sweet coconut milk and SUPER fresh meats and vegetables. They have sriracha at the tables if you’d like to add a little flair to it. The larb was hot and fresh and tasted absolutely perfect. Their new location is amazingly clean and decorated perfectly too. They’re at the old Big Burrito directly across the street from where they were, so if you find them and see an empty building, just look across the street and find yourself in southeast Asian paradise. If Lao food isn’t your thing, they have a wide array of southeast Asian cuisine to suit everyone’s needs. They have some of the best pho in town too.

This place is awesome! The food is fresh and comes out fast. We ordered the rangoons to start. The best ones in town, if you ask me. They were generously filled with cream cheese and you could actually taste the (imitation) crab. I ordered the chicken pad sieew which comes with a broad noodle and is in a really tasty sauce with fresh broccoli. It was a generous portion and I ended up with a ton of leftovers. My husband ordered the pad thai and that was just as delicious as any other I've had. Again, it was a generous portion and we have so much leftover I'm excited for lunch tomorrow. For my son we got the chicken fried rice, and you guessed it, it was a huge portion. Overall this was a great dining experience and I can't wait to go back for a bahn min or some pho this winter.

Nice open layout. Lots of natural light and windows. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a very relaxing experience to order and to eat. The food was delicious. The drunken noodle was very tasty with fresh vegetables and ingredients. The noodles were broad and had just the right amount of body. I will say, go easy on the spice as I think their regular was just right for me but too much for others. The Pad Thai was great and had a lot in the plate. The sauce had some sweetness to it and the ingredients were all fresh and not over cooked. The spring rolls looked great from a far and will have to be tried another time as we are so full! Definitely give this place a try and it was quick, if you’re looking for a quick in and out.

I feel obligated to write a review after browsing the recent reviews others have left. No one else seems to be having the experiences I’ve had.

I’ve never been to such an inconsistent restaurant before. Each experience has been wildly different from the previous. I’ve eaten here 4 times, and it has ranged from “legendary cuisine with no peer” to “im not sure how you guys are in business”.

The first time I ate here, I was completely blown away. The red curry was divine. The tofu was unbelievably crispy. Im a spicy guy, but have learned my lesson from reaching for the hottest spice level on the first visit. So I went with Thai hot, and it was just perfect. Everything was exactly what I had hoped for and more.

The next time I came, I ordered a stir fry. To my horror, it was the polar opposite of my first visit. The sauce was painfully bland, and unremarkable. There was no heat to be found. The tofu was depressingly soggy. The vegetables? Look, I’m down for a firm veggie in my stir fry, but the zucchini was literally still cold from the refrigerator. It wasn’t even in the pan long enough to warm up. I attempted to salvage the meal with a generous helping of sriracha, but even then I was asking too much of huy fong.

I dabbled with fried rice next, and it was just mediocre. Much better than my stir fry experience, but still longing for that first wild ride with the curry.

I’ve ordered the curry next as well as the same fried rice dish. The curry was alright, but the tofu was again a limp sadness and despite ordering it Thai hot, I’m not sure there was any added spice at all. The fried rice was better seasoned this time round, but it was missing all the veggies except for the green onions.

I really want to love this place, but I can’t keep taking these kinds of culinary risks. Eaters beware - this place will make you fall in love, only to...

Customer service is not good.... I ordered online for the first time. You choose an entree and then it takes you to another screen to add extra vegetables, proteins, noodles, etc. So I added some stuff... i figure if it prompts it is okay to do it. I got a call from the cook questioning my order because it doesn't make sense and no ones ever ordered it before. I explained it was my first time ordering from them and it was an option so I chose it. He told me it wouldn't come out right so I told him not to do it then. He knows the food better than I do. He then told me he would do it and just put it on the side... okay... so I already feel embarrassed at this point. I go in to pick it up. It wasn't ready so I was standing inside. The tall guy answering the phone had a call and a customer asked if they could get extra vegetables with some dish. The cook said no. A few seconds later, while the tall man was still on the phone with the customer, shouts out that it only comes with lettuce, do they want more lettuce? Incredibly sarcastic. Wow. People are trying to give you their money and in my one experience I hear you belittle 2 customers. The tall man was very polite. Probably a reason why he's at the front counter. The 2 rating is because the food was actually pretty good. But it's hard to convince yourself to go back when you've seen that behavior...

First time ordering from Rock N Thai and it was, unfortunately, a poor experience. The people are so nice though.

I ordered Tom-Ka (soup), Bankok Chicken, and Mini Egg Rolls.

When I got home, I had the Bankok Chicken, no egg rolls, and what we thought was Tom-Ka. My friend took a bite of it because it did not seem like Tom-Ka. We called to ask what happened and to figure out what they gave us and they told us it is Peanut Curry. My friend is allergic to peanuts. So I told them that and told them I want them to remake my meal and refund part of my money and hopefully my friend won't have a reaction. The manager got on the phone and said let's just throw in some crab rangoons and call it even. I didn't really need any extra food, but I'm not one to argue.

I got back to the restaurant and the bag seemed pretty full. They let me know that they threw in an extra order or vegetarian pad thai, WITH PEANUTS ON TOP OF IT. Omg. I understand they had good intentions but come on. I ordered plenty food in the first place and didn't need an extra side or entire extra entree with ADDITIONAL peanuts, which one of us could not eat. Needless to say, I don't plan to return. I'll stick with Thai Avenue...
