My husband and I were excited to visit this shop as he is an avid reader and coffee drinker. What could be better?!
The space is small, but cozy enough to sit down with a good book and a coffee. The coffee is fine, and the book selection is fine as well.
This is the reason that I am giving the atmosphere three stars: When my husband and I walked in, there were two men sitting on the far side of the cafe carrying on a lively conversation. As we moved closer to where they were, they instantly stopped talking and I could feel a weird tension in the room. At first I thought it was me (Iām black and my husband is white). So I carried on without looking at them because I try to ignore small-minded individuals. After a few awkward moments, they resumed their conversation.
As we were leaving, my husband said he didnāt want to come back. Apparently, during that abrupt and awkward silence, they had been glaring at him and specifically his hat. They obviously mistook his red Detroit Red Wings hat for another type of hat and felt the need to stare him down because of that.
Even had it been the other type of red hat they were thinking of, their reaction would not have been justified. I would imagine these particular men would not have appreciated anyone glaring at them because of their obvious affiliation. But as always, itās nothing more than the very same small-minded behavior that people like this rail against.
So a fair warning to locals who may express different views or opinions with your clothing choice or attire⦠you may not be welcome by the audience this...

Since Starbucks removed toffeenut from their menu, creating the butter beer from the secret menu has been difficult as that was my favorite drink. Imagine my delight and joy upon finding it Herr under a different name. This place has truly brought me so much joy and the staff is just wonderful and a pleasure to interact with.
First time visiting and I can not wait to go back! This coffee shop had delicious coffee and spoke to the bibliophile in me. The shop was clean and smelled of coffee. The food was friendly for every diet. (I got the impresssion that if it wasnt, they would try to accomadate for future guests.) The staff were so kind and even met me at my level. I told them to surprise me and they did....Twice!
There was books for all. From children's to the classics to the newest fantasy and everything in between. I am already eyeing 2 of the books I want to get from here.
This is a great place to sit down and read a book or just chat with friends. So skip going to Starbucks and go here for your next...

I was so excited to try it that I got it with regular milk rather than asking about oatmilk so my guts were not having lol. Gotta remember for next time. The folks working there and the owners were so nice and welcoming! I'm adding this shop as one of my favorite indie...
