We stayed here for a family vacation with six people (two adults, four kids) and it was the perfect "home base" for our western Michigan adventures. Our room slept all six of us comfortably and was very clean.
The amenities of this hotel are great and one of the primary reasons we selected it. We spent a lot of time at the pool and the hot tub having indoor/outdoor access and little waterfalls was so cool! They also stocked plenty of towels at the pool so you won't need to bring your own. The pool also only goes to 5 feet deep, which is nice for families with younger kids, like us.
The breakfast each morning was also great, with a good variety of items that ensured everyone in our large family was happy with something they liked. The staff was constantly refilling the buffet and the food always tasted hot and fresh.
The only issue we had was with the arcade; some of the games are not fully operable and some even took our quarters without working at all. The games are all pretty dated as well, with the majority of them being from the 90's. The kids were pretty disappointed by it, but luckily everything else made for a great stay.
The hotel is not located in the most quaint or picturesque area, but if that's what you're looking for you'd be better off staying in downtown Holland or along the shore. That being said, it's location is super convenient to lots of stores and restaurants and also Neli's Dutch Village.
To summarize: this hotel is a great place to stay with kids and I would definitely stay here again. The location is convenient, but not in most picturesque locale. That said, downtown Holland and Holland State Beach and are only a 15-20...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Holland and overall, my experience was quite positive. The standout feature for me was the excellent staff who went above and beyond to ensure a welcoming and comfortable stay. Their professionalism and friendliness truly made a difference and added a personal touch to the experience.
However, I must mention a couple of aspects that detracted from an otherwise delightful stay. The primary issue I encountered was with the beds; they were notably springy. Sharing the bed with my wife made it challenging to get a restful night's sleep, as every movement on her part seemed to transfer to my side of the bed. This was a bit frustrating and impacted the overall quality of our sleep.
Another minor concern was the strong scent of chlorine in the air. Thanks to Mark Rober's insightful YouTube video, "Measuring How Much Pee Is In Your Pool," I now understand that the distinct odor isn't necessarily the result of excessive chlorine but rather a chemical reaction caused by the presence of urine in combination with chlorine. While this information shed light on the issue, the intensity of the smell was still noticeable and somewhat uncomfortable.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I want to emphasize that the staff's exceptional service and the hotel's overall cleanliness made our stay enjoyable. I believe addressing the issues with the beds and perhaps finding a way to get people to stop peeing in the pool 😁 would elevate the overall experience for guests. I appreciate the efforts of the staff and hope these constructive comments contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Holiday Inn...
Read moreMy family was looking for a weekend getaway and after conducting some research online your hotel In Holland, MI kept popping up with great reviews and a recommended place to go for families. Booking the room online was very easy to do and I appreciated that while booking the room questions were asked to identify personal preferences. The only downfall to this is the follow through. Upon arrival my preferences were not acknowledged nor granted. I understand that not all preferences may be feasible but it would have been nice for the front desk attendant to at least acknowledge them and explain why it could not be fulfilled. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean and well stocked. The linens were soft and extremely comfortable. The only disappointment had was the whole purpose of our weekend getaway was to go to a hotel with a nice pool and hot tub for my family to enjoy. Saturday evening of our stay the pool was closed down and remained closed through the duration of our stay. We were unable to use these amenities Saturday night and Sunday morning. Given this was one of the major deciding factors in choosing our hotel it was very upsetting to not be able to use the amenities we came for. Other than that it is a beautiful hotel, very clean and courteous staff. The continental breakfast is also very nice. A wide variety of food to choose from including fresh fruit. Overall we we pleased with our stay I just wish the pool and hot tub had...
