TLDR: I keep coming here for the crab Rangoons, and everything else I’ve had here is also fantastic. The hibachi is good and entertaining, the sushi is fresh and delicious- BUT THE CRAB RANGOONS 🤤 🤤 🤤

I’ve visited this place almost every time I find myself in holland to visit my friend. The crab Rangoons are ridiculous and filled with huge chunks of crab! (See photo) I’ve not eaten the like at any other restaurant and I’m addicted! I’ll be craving them and have to visit Wild Chef!

I usually get the hot tea (pictured) and miso or clear soup (If I get hibachi, it comes with clear soup and house salad with ginger sauce that’s pretty good).

I’m including pictures from 2 separate visits where at one we ate hibachi and at the other we had sushi in the dining room. The first plate of sushi is what we got as an appetizer before we got hibachi- I got the white tuna and avocado roll and she got the spicy tuna roll. I ordered the shrimp hibachi.

I honestly couldn’t tell you what the other sushi pictures were because they were taken previously and I don’t remember what they were called, but they’re pretty, so I’m including the pics in the review 😆.

Overall this is one of my favorite sushi places because

  1. the Rangoons are bomb
  2. the sushi is fire 🔥
  3. the prices aren’t crazy expensive, especially compared to other hibachi places in GR
  4. the service is always good and the servers are always nice and attentive.

I’ll be back soon,...

This was the worst time I've ever experienced here, my family and friends would always come here a couple times a months sometimes more depending on Birthdays and anniversaries. First! I ordered the seafood trio and the scallops were under cooked badly. Second our food was cooked with way too much brown sauce, that's all you could taste. Third, the chef's performance at the hibachi was lame as hell. I've seen what they can do and it's usually a great performance, the bar of standards sure was poor this time. Last of all was my bill..........I don't mind paying for good food and service. I was charged a gratuity of $16.97 on my bill plus I gave the chef a $10.00 tip, I asked why and was told because I met some friends and that made 6 of us it's considered a party so everyone gets charged a gratuity. Plus two other people that we did not know sitting at the same hibachi also got charged for gratuity this is outrageous and wrong. For these reasons my family and anyone I come across will be told of these circumstances and my recommendation is never eat at your...

HORRIBLE! We made a reservation for 15, they stuck us in the back corner which is no big deal but after waiting 40 minutes for our drinks it became quite obvious that they just didn’t have any desire to provide the experience we were paying for. They finally gave us our drinks and we had to ask them to take our order. Well the party I was with asked them as we left because our child had to get to sleep. We left and got food some place else about 20 minutes later and they let us know they had just got their soup and salad. I wouldn’t go back there if they gave me the food for free.

Update: Well Jay, if you think having 2 of their party getting up and leaving and not being able to celebrate her birthday with her was a great experience then you’re sadly mistaken my friend. It shouldn’t have taken you 40 minutes to get us our drinks, which by the way were just soda and water. They made the best of it because that’s the kind of people they are but I can assure you it was HORRIBLE service. People don’t go out and spend that kind of money to wait an hour for you to take...

August 2025: Stopped in again and I ordered the same thing. I love the hibachi jumbo shrimp. Winnie was our server this time and she was great. So far this place is the best hibachi I e had in Michigan. I really wish they had one of these in Oakland County, MI. May 2023: I used to travel to Holland for work and stayed in the Hampton Inn behind this restaurant for 4 nights a week from 2010 to 2016 and I ate here at least once a week. My favorite was the Hibachi shrimp, so when I was in Holland over the weekend, I had to stop in try it to see if it was still good. I’m glad we stopped in because it was just as good as before. Everything we had was excellent. I recommend this place for hibachi and sushi. The staff are also very friendly. Our server Ulani had a great attitude and was very nice. I don’t have a single complaint about this place and I’ll be back again the next time I’m in town. The total for lunch before tip was $27 and that was enough for two people.

This dining establishment is a MUST visit! I dined here with my daughter just recently. The server was jovial, upbeat, and had a great sense of humor. He was very quick and accommodating. The meals, while some might think pricey, ($25 to $30) are well worth it. My meal came with soup and salad. The salad dressing is out of this world delicious. The meals were so large that I ate what I could during dine in, then took the rest home for two more meals! That's equivalent to about $9 per meal! (The plates are very large dinner plates, larger than any other restaurant I've visited.) My daughter and I both ordered the filet mignon and it was AMAZING! Thank you Wild Chef. We will be stopping in again soon!
