I'm typically one to encourage a direct and honest review.... And I think it has nostalgia and although I haven't researched it myself, I'm sure there's a cool history behind it. Beer selection is respectable food is typically hot and fresh. But the staff, at least the one lady that we had over both of our visits I feel me just need more support while she's working. In general I know all businesses are understaffed including my own and I truly take it to account feeling overwhelmed and underappreciated as an employee. Both times we were served seem to unhappy with her job. The first time I just thought it might have been a fluke as we came in later in the evening and it was a slow night. The second time they were very busy during midday, and the weather was beautiful so we wanted to eat outside. 40 observing people outside eating and drinking at their designated spot in front of their restaurant we went inside and inquired how we go about getting food. We happened to cross the same server who helped us a few weeks back and she started out friendly enough explain that they were short-staffed than the food was on quite a delay which considering the weather we had no problem with and we're happy to have a drink or two while we waited. Upon ordering our first round of drinks and food order we found out that we order it inside and they bring it out to you as a carryout wrapped in plastic and it was essentially self-serve from the outside. No issues whatsoever the band was playing it was quite loud inside but for the most part the directions were clear. This is unfortunately where it went downhill and essentially ruined the rest of the experience and encouraged us not to return. Unknowingly there was a specific rule that you had to open your beverages outside, under the assumption that there was no servers outside or it was city ordinance perhaps. But I didn't hear was after she handed me the bottle opener, I instinctively assumed that she was simply asking for help to open the bottle while she tended to the multitude of customers that they all had because they were so over whelmed. So I did what most people might do and I open my beer. What I didn't hear before she handed it to me is that I was too open it outside. For when she quickly snapped at me said I told you to open it outside! And followed that up by snapping the bottle opener out of my hand and throwing it behind the bar as if I had done some horrible travesty to her and her staff. And then promptly walked away from us after her outburst!? For which at that point not realizing what I had even done wrong, I apologized and it seemed to fall on deaf ears. Obviously I had made a mistake by not hearing her correctly but her response was well above the necessary response despite being short staffed and overwhelmed you do not treat your customers in that way even when they make a mistake. Sadly being one of the few venues that have outdoor seating and had already paid for our food at that point decided to stay and receive our food outside. My wife was kind enough to go in and finish paying our tab and order one final round because of the long time frame it was taking to get our food. Was created by the same woman again and my wife said that she seemed to be quite inconvenient that we were trying to cash out. Could have been an interpretation of how she was behaving or maybe my wife just misunderstood for demeanor? But at the end of the day we didn't really feel welcome, nor did we feel appreciated his customers. And sadly we won't be back. Again just to be clear I know I made a mistake but the server's response is not necessary and above what needed to be more of a simple response for an honest mistake. Perhaps sometime off or more staff might help alleviate some of the stresses that their team is going through. As I know myself and my teams are going through the...
Read moreI went out Friday night to the Holly witches night out event and had extremely terrible service to the point where the other ‘witches’ I went out with are still complaining about my service the following day. I placed a simple order of a cheeseburger how it comes, nothing special no customizations and left my name with the order like they asked. My name is Sarah and evidently I needed to be the one to know ahead of time that there was a stranger behind me named Sarah. My name got called and I took my burger and started eating to realize it was the spiciest thing I have ever put in my mouth. I mentioned to my friends that it was very spicy to my surprise and the other Sarah happened to hear me mention that and she came up to me saying I had her burger. We both went up to the counter together explaining we were both named Sarah and that I had taken her burger not mine. A $16 burger turned into a second $16 burger. I was so flustered that I didn’t question having to pay for my burger twice. I feel incredibly taken advantage of and it ruined my mood to the point where I never ate my burger that I ordered. We had the window slammed in our face rather than an apology and an attempt to fix our problem. I shouldn’t have to pay $30 for a burger that I didn’t even end up eating because I was so disappointed with...
Read moreI normally never write reviews especially if they are negative but my experience yesterday was not only negative but offensive. We visited the restaurant yesterday around 2pm. I asked for a sample of the IPA on draft and the bartender rudely commented there was no need because it tasted like a hoppy IPA but he did give me a sample. I tasted it and told him I liked it and ordered a short. I walked to my table w my beer where I sat w my mother. The bartender literally turned around opened a bag of chips and preceded to watch tv. I had to ask for menus. He walked over with an attitude, gave us the menus and walked back to behind the bar and continued to watch tv. We looked through the menu and not once did he glance over or asked if we had decided on anything. There was only two people at the bar and it was clearly he did not want to serve us. The only explanation I can think of when questioning his lack of service is that he was racist. I've never been treated so poorly in a restaurant. I pretty much finished my beer and paid and we left without eating dinner. Luckily Fenton isn't too far away and we had dinner...
