Hunan Wok — Restaurant in Hollywood

The food is great, the service is mediocre, delivery guys begging for tips upon delivery, & I legit live 2 mins away, & then he's rude when you can't. I'm a college student I barely have enough funds to afford the food! On top of that it's happened numerous times. Also I called in to place a delivery order & wanted the funds to be split half cash & the rest via card, I thought I had my card but I didn't so I asked to return the call once I found it, I return the call 2 mins later, the lady who I spoke w/ throughout this entire ordeal was named "Sam" & quite honestly she's an idiot, putting it lightly. I've been going to Hunan wok for quite some time & I almost always do this w/ my deliveries, once she answers my call she tells me the min charge to card is $5 I was confused to why she had mentioned that because we hadn't yet spoken on the cost of my meal, then I get confused & ask her "well how much is the entire order" & she replys "we don't deliver" & I am stunned because I always get deliveries, so I know she's lying, & then she says "because of how you're acting we won't deliver"..... When she says that I almost jumped through the phone... Talk about great service... I'm a very rational person so this entire ordeal was quite bizarre, Hunan Wok is filled w/ Idiot drivers who beg for tips even if they put in ZERO effort, & workers who can't properly assess English. I plan on stopping by and confronting "Sam" face to face. I would've respected her more if she just hung up the phone, rather than blatantly lie. They...

If I could rate them ZERO stars I would and deservedly so - take it from a customer for the past 12 years! They are now BEYOND disgusting and now have DISGUSTING food to go along with their DISGUSTING service.

I visited the restaurant and ordered the same thing I’ve been ordering since 2010 - curried shrimp with fried rice. This time, the dish was bland - insipid actually, how bad it was. My husband who introduced me to Hunan Wok suggested I let them know so they could replace it. I did just that, replacing it with a Pad Thai dish he was eating that tasted good.

When I was leaving and asked for a bag, the lady who typically processes the orders told me, “Next time you come here, if you order something you don’t like, we won’t be replacing it, that’s YOUR PROBLEM NOT OURS.” In response, while she didn’t deserve a civil response, I took the time to patiently explain that the meal is the ONLY meal I’ve ever eaten there and it’s typically very good - however, it was clear the chef was rushing as the meal was beyond substandard. It was a poor quality issue on their part and not a preference issue. Can you believe it?! And even after explaining, she didn’t apologize or even retract her comment, but continued to say she’s ever seen me before - a MOST racist comment since I am Black, I felt.

Point is, such as waste of money and more importantly, I can emphatically say the food quality has dropped significantly and so has the service....

Hunan Wok is located in the Park Sheridan plaza and because of the pandemic is only allowing takeout and delivery. They have the menu posted on the window so you have an idea what you want before going in, and masks are required.

I placed my order of steamed dumplings and a shrimp roll. Wait time was 10 minutes. There was only one female behind the counter and she was holding down the fort in Jet Li speed...I mean girl was fast...she was taking orders off the phone, taking care of the customers who came in to place their orders, packed the orders, and handed them out. I was impressed.

Once I got settled at home, I reached for the shrimp roll which was made and fried perfectly. Hot and crunchy on the outside, tender shrimp and veggies on the inside. Next was the dumplings and OMG they were so delicious with a tasty dipping sauce. Whenever I get the taste for dumplings, this is the place I'm getting them from and I can't wait to try their fried rice and lo...
