Changing this review because, John (owner) sent me a message to apologize about my unsatisfied visit. I appreciate the reply and accepted his apology, changing my review to 4 stars. Just a helpful hint that John shared with me. If I informed the server I was not satisfied with my hoagie, they would have cooked me a new one or a different one. I am looking forward to returning to Sonny's and try the #9 with American & Provolone (like the one attached). They have been in business for over 60 years, so they are doing something right.
Thank you John for caring about your customers!!!
Play it safe and get a turkey sub or meatball sub!!! First of all I want to say that my family and I have visited Sonny's several times in the past and always had a wonderful meal. I actually referred a co-worker to go eat there, that enjoys Philly cheesesteaks as much as I do. He loved it. This past Sunday, after we left a Miami Dolphins game early to head over to Sonny's for a bite to eat, I had an unpleasant experience. I ordered the #9 with Ameriucan cheese. My order arrived and I could not tell if there was cheese on it because it was so overcooked and all the cheese was basically gone. The meat had no seasoning to it what so ever. I sent an email to their contact information with no reply. I normally do not give reviews, but seen that other customers had the same experience as I did. From now on, I am going to stay local to purchase my Philly cheesesteaks from our favorite wings place. If Guy would have had the hoagie I tasted on Sunday, he would NOT of made another trip to the restaurant. This is how it should look like and mine was no where like this!!!! I do have to say, the staff at Sonny's is very pleasant.
Good luck with your visit, I am done...
Read moreI decided to venture out beyond my local area and out try out some new places on my list. Ive been eyeing this place for a while because I love a good steak and cheese. It also didn’t hurt that it was on diners, drive-ins and dives at least twice and I needed to investigate it myself. It’s a nice family run, takeout or dine in establishment that has been around for 65 years. It’s currently run by brother and sister team, Valerie and John with their kids pitching in. He’s able to keep the prices low because they really want focus on the customers but at the same time bring some excellent fresh choices. Their breads are homemade that they bake in the back as well as the tomato sauce. The steak for the sandwiches is made from rib eye that they slice up fresh for the day. I mean these folks are originally from the Philly area (Germantown) so they know what they’re doing. The place is modern and clean, and as soon as you come, in you can see the team at work making you your sandwich. I have to say Valerie was such a doll to talk to and was super friendly that I could’ve been there forever. I thought the steak and cheese hoagies were excellent and I had mine with provolone and green peppers. The peppers were super soft the way I like it and they included grilled onions. The bread was fresh made of course and the steak was super juicy and tender. They also have an option to put their family tomato sauce on it too. This sauce is also used on pizzas that they make that I have yet to try. After 4 pm is when they make their 12” pizza (13.75 for cheese) and their pasta. It’s definitely a place that I will be returning to because not only are the sandwiches wonderful, but the people who serve it to you are great as well! FYI...
Read moreI have been in the hospitality business for forty years now. I am presently managing at the St. Regis Bal Harbour hotel. I am very passionate about our guests and guest service. I am constantly training staff on what good service is about and I like to share my personal experiences to make it more tangible to them. I can’t wait to return to work so that I can share my service experience at your establishment with my team. From the moment I walked inside I was greeted by a very personable and friendly staff, they inquired if they can be of any help. I was looking at the menu and when I finally made my decision my order was graciously taken. When my order was ready I handed the lady my credit card and she apologized saying that cards are not accepted. I thought I had some cash on me but as it turns out I didn’t. I said I was sorry and was ready to leave when a gentleman who must have been a manager or owner said to me not to worry and just mail him a check. I stood frozen for a brief moment because I couldn’t believe what I just heard. That in today’s day and time there is still trust, the genuine sense of taking care of your customers and what service really means. After my Goose bumps subsided (I kid you not) I thanked the gentleman and the staff bid me a fond farewell. The whole way home I was still in somewhat of a daze and I couldn’t stop thinking about how I had been treated. Wonderfully! On top of that I enjoyed a most delicious Steak Hogie for lunch. I will certainly share this experience with my staff and recommend your business to my friends.
Thank you for making my day and providing me with a most memorable and...
