This restaurant has a special place in my heart and for my family as well. So when I am in town, I love to visit or at least get take out. In my opinion, it is the jewel of Birmingham so it is that gathering place that everyone knows. I recently went for their Sunday buffet and really got my fill. My favorite dishes are the Hot and Sour soup, Garlic Chicken, Sesame chicken and their sauteed mushrooms. During my last visit there was fried catfish and it was "da bomb dot com". The fish fillets were fried nice and hard and the fish was real fish. The buffet is high quality and very reasonably priced.

So we showed up too late for the lunch buffet...BUT. We ordered dinner off the menu (leftovers 😋🥰) and it was amazing. Egg rolls (not pictured, we ate them) we're good. Cream cheese wontons with crab OMG so freaking good. Sesame chicken (not spicy) was probably one of the best I've ever had and it's pretty much my go to everywhere. Fried rice. Fresh ingredients and tastes wonderful. The noodles were awesome as well. Not my thing but my man raved about them and what I did try was great. We HAVE to come back and try their buffet, it ends at 2:30PM

This was the second time I’ve eaten at this location and just like the first time I thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff is friendly and willing to help with any need. The food is fresh and there’s constantly someone bringing out new items to refill the Buffet. This location is conveniently located to shops and other stores and it’s one that I like to visit when in the area shopping, I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for good Chinese food with a large buffet. I look forward to the day that I can come back and eat here again.

Update on December 27, 2018.

There's a first time for everything and today was the first time I've been to Mr. Wang's and did NOT enjoy the food or my treatment. My sister brought me here for my birthday lunch. I ordered chicken and broccoli to go while she ate off the buffet. When I got my order I opened it and tasted it only to find out the chicken tasted spoiled. I asked my sister to taste it and she confirmed it. IT WAS BITTER, SLIMY AND SPOILED!! I discreetly told my waiter and asked to order something else. That's when the bad treatment started. When I told him to just bring me sweet and sour chicken he informed me to make sure that's what I wanted because he couldn't refund anything else else. Hey dude! I WANTED the chicken and broccoli but I didn't want it with bad chicken.I reminded him (again discreetly) that the reason I asked him to take back the order was because the chicken tasted spoiled. He blew me straight off!!! He acted as if i wanted something for free. At that point I told him to cancel my order. Take it off the ticket! I instead would have my sister pay for my bowl of egg drop soup. She lost a bit of her appetite at the exchange but I insisted I was fine and the soup was fine. There's a first time for everything and this was the FIRST time I've been to this establishment and felt disappointed. I'm disappointed in the food but moreso disappointed in the way I was treated. I expect a health crisis in your future Mr. Wang's. If a customer tells you something tastes spoiled... Check it out! Investigate it. Correct it! And thank the person who quietly whispered to you what the problem was without making a scene in your restaurant. I will not be back. Previous rating: I have never visited Mr. Wangs and had a bad experience. The food is always fresh and hot, the selection is great and it's great for take out too. Tip for standing in line... read the wall. Best egg drop soup...

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!!! BEWARE!!! GUARD YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY! THIS PLACE SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS!!!!!! STOP THESE CROOKS FROM GETTING RICH IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

We are just passing thru Birmingham on our way back to Georgia. We got here almost 2 hours before closing today. There was hardly any food. The rice was hard as hell & stale. They refused to put out any food saying the kitchen was closed. But they're charging full price for the buffett. My husband asked for chicken...they went & cooked 6 pieces...dumped them in the tray. Then the guy had the nerve to grab 3 peices...and brought them to him at our table. The cashier/mgr or who ever he is rude & got upset because we didnt want to eat the old food. He got extremely loud & told us to just pay & leave...after only having 1 plate.

We told him we needed more food because the food out was unacceptable. He yelled saying he has over 40 paid tickets & asked if I wanted him to call the police. I informed him he could do what ever he felt he needed to do...because paid tickets have nothing to do with the current food selection.

Lastly the price was over $24 for horrible service & no food at an "All You Can Eat" Buffett.

Before leaving he offerd to take $5 off. Like he did us a favor. I left the building because I have never receved this type of service at ANY establishment.

My husband stayed behind to pay & the cashier/mgr also made a comment about "You People."

We should've waited on the police before paying...

I will NEVER EVER eat...

Yeah, this place has seem to steadily go down hill since "covid". Food poisoning chances are hit and miss, but more frequent now. Got deathly sick the very last time I ate there. Staff is still amazing, although they got alittle hysterical during restrictions. The condition of the dinning room was getting apparent even before. I think my last bout of food poisoning might have come from the table condiment bottles. Floor is stickier than an adult theater. Food still tasted great, but somethings going on, or not going on.. The place is long, long overdue for another sanitation and tear out renovation. All of it is the same furniture they had for atleast 25 years or so already. I can't say what issues their kitchen might be having. They've been riding on a faded star for awhile now. They still boast a high health department score. Don't know how much they pay for that, probably enough for a renovation. The King Buffet chain gets brutallized by the health department, but their food is always hot and fresh and i never get sick there. This was the go to place! But they're either going to be shut down, or have no one come if they don't...
