Service was good. We got seated right away. They were fairly fast with serving the side dishes and our drinks. The food came in a timely manner as well. The side dishes were good. The jap chae noodle dish was good just a tad oily. But......! Yes the big but....!

I have 5 complaints which took 2 stars away. I grew up in the restaurant business so unless the over all experience is bad then I would not give it too bad of a review.

First is it’s very expensive. This is definitely the most expensive Korean place that I have ever been to. It’s at least $5 above average prices in other Korean restaurants I have been to for every dish!

Second, they added their own tip to the bill. I know they do that for large groups but we only had 4 people.

Third, their Galbi dish was not good. I love Korean food so I have tried a lot of different Galbi. Do not order the Galbi here.

Fourth, they only served lunch specials from Monday to Thursday. So if you go other days look to spend at least $20 for one dish.

Fifth, when you ask for water they give you water bottles. That’s the first in the hundreds of restaurants I have been too. It’s only .49 a bottle but still who does that unless we ask for bottle water.

Over all because of their service and quality of some of the dishes I would recommend this place as long as you don’t mind spending the extra money. But then again some people said they don’t have good...

There is so much price gouging here that I do not understand why it's being tolerated. Being the only Korean restaurant in the area seems to make the owners think that they can charge more than double for the food without doing anything to improve the decor or the general dirtiness of the restaurant. The same bi bim bap costs $7 elsewhere ($19.99).

For the prices charged, the restaurant should be decorated and kept much cleaner at a minimum. The food was okay, but not the best I've tried. I ordered stir fried octopus. Some of the pieces were so chewy that I could not eat them (clear sign of overcooking or pieces repeatedly being frozen/defrosted).

The greed of the owners will catch up to them sooner or later. I just want people to be aware that there are restaurants with better decor/atmosphere, better food AND cheaper prices throughout the state of Alabama. If you're in the mall where this restaurant is located, I would pay 1/3 of the price to eat here and go to one of the other restaurants in the mall (which I should have done).

I asked for some more side dishes and was told it's $1.99 per side dish. I've never been to a Korean restaurant where they charge you for more kimchi. Also, at the end, the waiter asked if I was Korean. Apparently, hot barley tea is free for Koreans and not for non-Koreans. That's also pretty disturbing.

I'll spend my hard earned cash...

I will never ever spend any money with this establishment. They are rude and didn't want to accommodate my request to make my dish without sesame seeds. I only concerned this place because they had clear Noddles. I called the day before to ask if they had them because I was on the website and noticed they had glass noodles. The man that answered the phone said yes they have potato Noddles. I was very excited! When I called today the same guy answered the phone telling me that they don't have the Noddles by themselves they only have it in a $18 dish and I didn't they item that he was describing. He was getting very frustrated because he couldn't speak good english and he didn't want to make any modifications. He said are you gone get it or not.. I said no then looked at a couple more reviews saw the dish he was referring to and then called back to ask if he could make it without the sesame seeds and spinach. He said no I'm tired and I won't make your order And hung up.. please beware of this establishment and their unprofessional customer service I wouldn't ever spend money with an establishment that won't do...

This place is the epitome of mom and pop shop, and we absolutely loved it. I had the yukgaejang paired with soju for the first time (I have never had soju before) and it was a match made it heaven. The yukgaejang was perfectly spicy (Asian medium but American spicy) and served literally boiling in a stone bowl. So good and flavorful. My husband had bibimbap, which was excellent. It came out on a steaming stone plate, and was a great presentation. Our 3 year old son even enjoyed the bone broth that came with the banchan and some rice. The banchan selection was pretty good. The fish cakes were very rubbery, but the kimchi and cucumbers were excellent. My favorite part was the owner sitting in the recliner in the dining area, watching Korean discovery channel while we dined. I'm honestly not being sarcastic, the service was great, and it was just added charm to a great, low-key restaurant. Definitely recommend. It's a great experience paired with delicious food.

Located in a shopping center a few blocks from large Asian grocery store. They have 2 tables that have a tabletop grill to cook your food but pricing for that is separate and pretty steep (about $30/person for beef bulgogi). My husband and I went on a Sunday for an early dinner at around 430pm and there were only the 2 of us. They have authentic and traditional Korean dishes on the menu such which consists of appetizers, soup, bibbimbap, noodle bowls and of course Korean bbq. My husband had the beef bulgogi and I ordered fire chicken which were both really good. They served us with 6 banchan (side dishes) enough for 2 people, and of course 2 small bowls rice. Seving size per dish is enough for 2 people, we ended up having 1 to-go box for my leftovers. Our check was about $50+ for the 2 of us.

My husband and I really enjoyed this place tonight. It was our first time going. The owners were sweet and helpful. They have a good selection of Korean dishes. If you are new to Korean food, bibimbop or beef bulgogi , both are good introductions. We ate boodae jjigae (soldier stew and it's spicy). That stew hit the spot! The kimchi was good as well. The side dishes were pleasant to eat. I lived in Korea (near Daegu) for two years in 2008 to 2010 so it was nice to eat good food. I do wish Birmingham had more authentic Korean restaurants, this is the only one that I know of. Korean food can be pricey but it's good to go with multiple people to share dishes and the bill. This restaurant is small on the inside and it does have clean bathrooms. They will do carryout.
