This L&L BBQ which is part of the franchise is located in the Ali Wai golf course club house. It's a sit down quick-serve type place. Many of the local golfers that play at the city course in back of the building stop there for the 19th hole ⛳. The menu is a bit on the limited side leaning towards local fair. The prices are generally inexpensive for the area that it's in. Once you make an order the food is out very quickly and it's fresh and hot. The quality of the food is middle of the road. Looking at the price point of the establishment your expectations need to be on the low side. If you're looking for fine dining this is not the place you should go.
If you're looking for quick hot inexpensive food it don't mind a few of the local golfers using some colorful words it's not a bad place to come. They do have a bar and a bunch of TVs that play sports and other. Be warned they close at 7 p.m. most days. Don't be looking for desert as they do not serve it. Plenty of free parking outside. There are many L&L barbecue is around the island but they are individually owned and not part of a...
Read moreFor my family's 4th restaurant experience, we saw people carrying a cup that said this restaurants name and a to go cup. In our hotel's hot tub, we decided to go to this joint, hopefully we are gonna have some good food after the past 3 restaurant experiences have been either not good or Nothing special. Let's see if this joint is good to our expectations.
We got the Cream Cheese Wontons to start off. Now we usually get Wontons at Chinese restaurants buy these were SOO good! They had a very good crunch and the filling was very good! And the sweet and sour sauce complimented it so well.
Next we had the Honey Glazed Shrimp. It was tempura battered and fried to a crisp and glazed with a honey glaze. The taste was a cripy and a sweet after taste and it was a perfect combination.
Finally we had the BBQ Mix Plate. It had Chicken Thighs, Thinly sliced Beef, and Pork Chops with white rice and Macaroni Salad. Everything was good except for the Mac Salad. But it was some nice authentic Hawaiian BBQ. Overall on the 10 point scale, we gave this...
Read moreMy husband and I recently vacationed in Hawaii (stayed in downtown Waikiki), and decided to look for an authentic Hawaiian barbecue. L&L in Colorado is one of our fave places, so we figured, it’s gotta be better in Hawaii. We walked maybe a little over a mile, and finally found it by the golf course. It wasn’t marked so we weren’t sure if we were at the right place ( there were maybe 5 peeps inside, mostly golfers). We ordered our meal, and when it arrived, it literally looked like a cheap Chinese food, with the sauce slapped on top of the meat and veggies. It was obvious everything was pre cooked, and was just warmed up, not even hot). We forced ourselves to eat because we didn’t want to offend them, but it was so DISAPPOINTING!!! I think there’s another L&L somewhere around the area, so if anyone wants barbecue, check that one out and don’t bother...
