Came here on a weekday afternoon for our first meal in Hawaii! It’s located in a cute, small lawn area that is neighbored by a rolls truck and a coffee shop.
The cashier was super friendly and kept asking us if it’s okay if our fresh rice was a bit squishy. We didn’t mind.
There’s a couple of picnic tables that the businesses share. The trash was absolutely swarmed by birds. There’s umbrellas so there was shade. The cashier came by to clean our table before we sat down.
I got a ginger shoyu ahi and jalapeno salmon poke bowl. The seaweed salad and fish tasted good, but I wish there was more seasoning. The ginger shoyu is reminiscent of hainan chicken and the jalapeño salmon had smashed jalapeños in a way that I’ve never tried before; the spice built up!
Overall, the hospitality and selections were nice but the seasoning/flavors were lacking a bit. Still, if you love the simple taste of fish, it’s worth giving this smaller...
Read moreI got the one protein salmon poke bowl late in the day (8pm). I was so surprised that this bowl was hard to digest… the whole bowl tasted like cardboard!! I think the flakes that the bowl was covered in is expired. The people were nice but the food was hard to eat.
Pros: Salmon itself seemed still fresh, Seaweed salad was good, Initial display
Cons: Overall cardboard taste because of the expired flakes, Salmon cut poorly, Only 1 good topping, Mushy rice (perhaps end of the day rice)

On our first visit, we had the combo spicy and original ahi with a tart ginger lemonade. The spicy ahi was only lightly spicy but the ahi was so buttery. And the lemonade is so refreshing on a hot day.
On our second visit, we had the garlic shoyu seared salmon and original garlic shoyu ahi. Again, didn't disappoint. Make sure you check them out as they were one of the better places for poke in the heart of Waikiki. Note...
