Out of all the L&L' Hawaiian BBQ locations I have eaten at, this one will always be the best in my book! The first and original L&L has a old fashioned look to it in Liliha town, but don't judge a book by its' cover! They give very generous portions to the plates they serve! I've been coming here ever since I was a little kid and my favorite is the chicken katsu plate! I get full before I can even finish all of that in a mini! Good portions of rice, mac salad, and their chicken katsu. My mini couldn't even close the lid on my plastic container all the way! Another favorite from here would be their BBQ cheese burger. They make their own original homemade delicious and most succulent BBQ crack sauce! Really that's the winner of the burger was that BBQ sauce! Lastly I love to get their garlic shrimp! If you don't feel like driving all the way to the shrimp trucks out north and east, here's a place that has good garlic shrimp! They fry their shrimp till it becomes SUPER CRISPY and cook it with their minced garlic and oil to give it that nice garlicky flavor! I usually eat my shrimp whole with the shell since it's fried to that extend. The prices are really cheap, so if you're ballin' on a budget or just looking for Hawaii's cheap eats then right here is one place to try! They have ample amounts of parking and service was very fast so if you're doing take out, you will be out of there in no time! If you're doing a quick grab and go I suggest calling...
Read moreThis is the benchmark of all L&L restaurants. The OG, the one that sets the bar so low for all others. It is dirty, it has a terrible atmosphere, service was really bad... This place was perfect in every way. If you are a fan of L&L, you must visit here.
If you have never eaten at an L&L before, do not come here. This is not going to be a good experience if you are not ready for the low standards that L&L is famous for.
There is seating here, but you will most likely not be able to eat at a table. There is parking on site, but if you are lucky enough to find a spot, you are going to have to get in and out very fast because someone else will be angry if you take a spot for too long. There is a menu, but you'll be impressed if you can read it through the filthy "glass" separating the counter from the menu.
As I said, this place is perfect in every L&L way and it is a must visit if you are on island. Be ready for quite the experience and lower all expectations before embarking on your mission to the very...
Read moreWe love this place for cheap, cheerful and satisfying plate lunches. When ever we visit Oahu, we usually eat at L&Ls every other day until we leave the Island.
L&Ls is chain food dining, Hawaiian Barbecue style. The smell alone can make you stop dead in your tracks, or in our case it has been known to waft through the open car window as we are driving along making us make an abrupt detour from our journey to track down our next plate lunch.
Don't expect to much from the seriously dated fit outs in the restaurants, but in this case, you don't go to L&Ls for the designer digs and Gucci clad staff. Each L&Ls feels like a local place to eat, where locals go and those travellers in the know.
The portions are generous and the flavours are fantastic. The mac salad is disgustingly good and the bbq short ribs make you want to lick your fingers and the fingers of your dining companions! For between $7-8 for a mixed plate of beef and chicken with mac salad, this is a wonderful way to eat well when your on a...
