I'm a local. I come to this place often. The smoothie is good. However, a leading health cafe fell very short on trainings and policy guidelines. Each time I'm there is a new person. And the staffs are not knowledgeable about the menu in terms of what ingredients, what it looks like, the total calories of the menu item.
It's been apparent that I pay high dollars on a particular smoothie. Unlike Jamba Juice, the staff won't give you the excessive portion, almost equal to 16oz that I received. They make it double intentionally of what you paid for, and they pour themselves a full cup and hide it in the fridge behind.
Not a good representation for an honest business. When asked, the staff casually said she is allowed to try. Stealing from the company and ripping off what a customer paid by making yourself a double portion is no longer just trying. If the company is allowing to try, then don't make it double portion for yourself. I paid 4 extra add ons. And it went to the staff's portion as well. Unethical needless to...
Read moreCeliac / dairy free people be wary. Went to this place twice today as my partner is celiac and dairy free. First experience at lunch was very good - allergens were noted and correct order made. We were pleased so decided to return the same evening for a take out. Different story in the evening, celiac / gluten free was missed initially and the order had normal bread - glad I checked before leaving. they went back to the kitchen to remake the sandwich. Mistakes do happen, and that’s fine as long as it is corrected.
Despite asking for gluten free and dairy free again, the replacement sandwich had pesto spread on the GF bread which wasn’t on the ingredient list of the sandwich. I suspect it was a genuine mistake again, but when I got back to the hotel, my partner had to go hungry as we weren’t sure what was in the pesto and Nalu had closed for the night.
Great place, and tasty...
Read moreI return to Nalu each time I travel to Kailua, and this was my first time trying the Waikiki location! I was so glad to see the same menu of my favorite fresh & healthy açai bowls on the island.
Nalu is located near the the Hilton Hawaiian Village, in a strip of boutiques & restaurants near Yard House. It has a simpler inside than the Kailua location. There’s a pretty art design on the wall. There honestly isn’t too much seating at this location, but you can find a spot outside around the stores.
As a vegan, my favorite things on the menu are :
Lean & Green Juice Nalu Bowl (you can order without the bee pollen and honey) Veggie Wrap
You’ll get a good amount of food, and can choose between 3 sizes for your bowl. Everything is fresh and makes you feel so nourished.
I loved experiencing the Waikiki location - and now I have a favorite açai bowl spot in...
